Basically, your insurance is sending you a take the p*** price, in the hope that you're one of those people who just renews without a second thought. Prove you're smart, shop around, get the best quote you can, and take it back to them. Tell them to beat it, by a good margin, or you're taking your business elsewhere.
Sadly Direct Line won't move on their renewal quote, so I've told them I won't be renewing it with them. I have until the 30th of August to get something else sorted!

Will give Elephant a go too cheers to everyone who has mentioned them :)

I've been with elephant for 2 years and I'm happy with them. However, it's horses for courses, and what's cheaper for me might not be cheaper for you, and vice versa.

The phone is always cheaper than the internet. Shop round and ring round. Everyoe was saying £400 for my van insurance, I spent an afternoon working the phones and got it down to £230.

try noel dazeley - google it for the number...

They were the best for me, can't remember the guy i spoke to but i told him i was planning more mods to the car this year, he said if i list what i planned he'll just add to the cover now - and it increased by nothing!

So i am covered for alloys, coilovers (Doesn't say anywhere what the limit is, i.e some companies say 50mm as the lowest) spacers, bumpers (smoothed) and car audio up to £500-600....

Oh and lost some of my documents a while ago, they sent me all of them 1st class recorded for free!

They are robbing theives too!
I should imagine a lot of places do that, otherwise it would cost them a fortune.

Look at it this way, if you've spent £5k changing the look of your car then you crash, they have to pay the other peoples insurance as well as another £5k to modify your car again.

It's our choice to change the look of our cars from how they were made, we can't really expect insurance companies to spend extra money modifying our cars for us if we crash :D

Thats true & a fair point, most specialist insurers will cover most mods - mine does (As long as you have prove of purschase etc)

Well its all sorted out now - going to go with Brentacre @ £480.00 for the year with a £350 excess (which I can afford if it comes down to that). Thats FC with all the bells and whistles inc. business cover, and mods covered like for like.

As DanDiesel mentioned from his chat with Brentacre, I can make any modifications to the car (bodywork, interior, suspension, brakes etc) as long as power doesn't go up by more than 10%, at no extra cost, not even a charge for paperwork. With the BMC and exhaust I'm at the 10% (there or thereabouts) marker. Suspension and 280mm brakes are the future, cash flow dependent :)

Cheers
