Yesterday they told me they would replace the pedal box free as 100% good will gesture.
It does pay to ask - as its expensive to get done.

Couldn't agree more. In the course of my engine swap I've fitted a hydraulic clutch to mine...I couldn't believe how shockingly nasty the clutch support bracket was. Mine was creaking at 60k and to find out now that VW knew about this...well, I'm nore than a little cross.
Anyway, hope you guys still flying on cable clutches now get trouble-free driving. Incidentally, VW actually have provided a blaking panel that pushes out in just the right place for a clutch master cylinder....are we trying to be told something here?
