Ok so I have managed to loosen the strut from the bottom mount (it's gone up about 50mm and can twist right the way round) but I can't get it out.

The control arm won't go any lower and the mount isn't that loose either, still quite tight.

Dunno what to try next. :(

Well that sounds like a bit of a bugger.

Just had a look on Abt's website, and they're selling lowering springs for the 9N Polo for £170, which is designed to drop the car by approx 35mm - the kind of drop I'm after.
Obviously a lot cheaper than coilovers, but will the ride be upset a lot?

I've got it sorted I think, spring compressor lent to me, compress the springs, make the strut shorter, out it comes (in theory of course!!).

That's tomorrow's job :D

Oh yeh! I got them from the official importer, Motorsport International, which are about 30mins up the road from me. Phone them on 08702412382 and tell them Richard with the New Polo who just bought KWs from em sent you :)

The impression I got was if you replace the springs on standard shocks it would give a "rubbish" ride, but I'm certainly no expert, just the impression I have got from reading. So then you'd be looking at new shocks, then I just thought COILOVERS, plus I want it as low as I can get, which is ideal with coilovers.

Ask around, ask 2k, he seems to know what he's chatting about! ;)

 That's ok mate

Well they're on!! Had a quick drive earlier, and they're mad! HARD! As hard as my dads Impreza  And the car handles so differently..... And the geometry is WAY out!! And it looks nice and low too :) Sorry no pics, mate has got cam, but will get some on asap.

Anyway, well happy with 'em, just cant wait to get geom set, its so far out it's unreal!

Not sure yet, Im approx 65mm drop at the rear and about the same maybe 70mm at the front, that's on 14" steels :) But my 17s will be back son soon! Which means it might be going higher, either that or my arch liners = no arch liners :)

I'll try and get some pics up today.

They phoned 2day and said it might not be here for a while because of the war!? Suposedly because the are using the ships to carry tanks etc... who knows?

Yeh not bad thanks! :)
Not had the 17s on since doing the suspension, and it's going in to body shop today so won't be able to check until Sat, but I will let you know don't worry.

I need to see how low I can go on 17s before getting the geom set.

Not good about the car, any old excuse eh?! Hope you get it soon.

ok my tell them straight that your not going to stand any more because VW have their own ships ( there blue with a huge VW on the side) and if you have a piece of paper that you have been given and its signed then the date of delivery on it is definate as you have a legally binding contract with them
imagine if you paid your first payment a month late, theyd go mad so so should you

and mole gimme pics :D

Saturday I promise!! Need to get my cam back.
I don't know if it's as low as you think it is though lol!
The main prob is the rear suspension being the "nova type", its as low as it goes, and the front is the same height as the rear and is about 2/3s down, so more to go!!
