Back in Black!!!!.............
lol cheers peeps!!
I get so much flack for my alloys!! i know how most of you guys love your deep dishes!!
.........i just wanted to be a bit different. I hadn't planned on getting 17's....i was going to buy some fairly sh*tty looking 16's (before i was a member of this forum) but saw these in R-Tec whilst getting my exhaust done and fell in love with them!!
They look ten fold better in the flesh and when theyre spinning they look like solid shiny silver discs.........pretty flash! lol!
cheers for the comments tho.......both good and bad! appreciate it!

bodykits are not really my taste, most cars i see with them go past and i take a sharp intake of breath!
but in this case i think it looks spot on mate! the front bumper is very smart and i don't actually mind the side skirts, purely because the bottom of the bumper is in line with the bottom of the skirt, whereas most bodykits have this unequal which i think looks pants!
i like the alloys, suit the car down to the ground, but definately needs lowering!
once its lowered, i think it will be one of the only polos i've seen where 17s work and look good!
good work chap

Blimey! Praise indeed! cheers m8, glad u like it. It's deffo heading in the right direction, coming together pretty much how i invisaged it! just needs lowering, nice black interior, some white dials with red back light and little bits like door pins and a beesting aerial!!DanDiesel wrote:bodykits are not really my taste, most cars i see with them go past and i take a sharp intake of breath!

To be honest......yes! It's still rapid really........i mean it has 100ish bhp so its not gonna be too sluggish but pulling away from standstill there is a small but noticable difference!
Once im moving though and i get the revs past 4000rpm it gets shifting just as quick as it did before!! well it probably doesnt but the difference is minimal....i can hardly feel it!
I dont like to rag my car too hard from stand still anyway.......the pain of not having a car for 3 weeks due to my f*cked gearbox has taught me not to redline each gear change!!
Get her rolling in a granny start and floor it from there and shes away!!
As for the rest of the way, ie not from standstill, i dont really notice a difference, just waaaay better grip and a slightly harder ride! apparently its increased my top speed but i havent had the chance to try going 120mph on the motorway yet......not that i would of course

yeh in theory the increase in circumference on the wheels would give it better top end. Dont know how much of a difference though.
yeh is should probably stop redlining every gear aswell lol. I have a tendency to race everyone who has the sheer audacity to challenge my mighty eight valves
I so need a bigger engine. this little one probably wont last much longer lol. sayign that.. MOT next week
not looking forward to that lol.
Anyways enough of my plight. What you gonna lower her on? Full whack with coilies or just gonna drop it on springs?

Yeah my mate just got his Honda Civic type R and that thing is immense. Soon as he hits 6000rpm the second set of power cams kicks in and you get another jerk of acceleration!! its mighty! hes paying £1900 insurance tho.......ouch!!
Im currently debating the coil/spring thing. Coils are more expensive from my research so far but the drop is adjustable so if i go down too far and get scrubbage it can be adjusted again....right?
Springs are cheaper but obv not adjustable so im stuck with wotever drop i decide on. i can go 40 or 60 from the spring kits ive seen......im not sure if 40 would make a huge difference and i dunno if 60 is too much....
R1CH and 6nBen both went down 60mm on 17's and had no troubles but this is me we're talking about and its bound to scrub like feck!!

lol not a lucky man then.
I would imagine with 17's you might be better off getting coilies as springs are more bouncy (or so i have found in my experience, which is err.. not much lol)
My car for example still feels like a boat round corners and im on GSF springs down 40mm. My ride is fairly comfortable and bouncy. Although still stiffer then the standard springs and still less comfortable then standard springs. I think for luxury you want springs.
For handling and sexy-looking-ness you need coilies.
depending on what make of springs you get i guess would depend on whether they rub or not. I think GSF ones probably would if you take a turn to quick.
