Ok, quite an adventurous day. Firstly, got my new 6n front wings, which within 30mins one was completely destroyed, with only the arch remaining.

It was then placed at the rear of the car and lines were scribed as to its location. The arch inner lip was then bent 180degrees so it poked out beyond the car. All was then ground back ready for welding.

The new 'arch' was then tacked and then seam welded to the body of the car, the underside was tacked to the lip that was pulled out.

A liberal coating of filler was then applied

This was then sanded back and shaped to the basic shape i wanted. We're still a little unsure as to what to do with the bumper, but have a couple ideas floating round. We've only done the drivers side today, but now we know what we're doing the passenger side shouldn't be so bad. Hopefully have it all finished tommorrow. This side needs another light skimming and a few minor touches here and there, but you get the idea...

The idea was to make it look like a standard arch, and i think thats been achieved. I think when its all finished and white, you won't really notice they're over an inch wider than they were!

What dya think?

Make sure you get that bumper to match.

You could do what Dan Krebs did, buy a second one, butcher it and use the plastic from it to make the extra you need.

in the first pic the whole arch looks rippled up to the fuel cap, but is this an illusion?

looks very impressive, good work! hopefully not too much filler though?

rear bumper will prove to be an issue I expect, probably need some good plastic welding and you'll be fine! as someone has said you could split it in two, widen it by filling in the centre gap by 3 or 4 inches, but then you'll also need to extend the top of it at the arches I guess.....

hmmmmm

will be interested to see this finished!

Cheers guys. There's no rippling in the arch, just the light in the photo. Both sides are now done, and looking very symetrical so all is good. Will have a go at the bumper on saturday, still not too sure on what to do, will probably slit it at the arch and weld a lil infil in there. We'll see though.

There's not to much filler in there, only enough to cover the welds really, we put lots on, but sanded most of it off!

I was quite surprised how much work the guy that was supposed to do it let me do, i pretty much did everything except the welding, which is good as i like self achievement!

Easy 7 is the filler i tend to use, its not only cheap (Around £15 for a massive tin) and is really easy to apply and sand.

Not done anything this weekend, too much to do elsewhere. Should be doing a little throughout the week and lots on saturday, but will keep you informed.
