I got the GTI engine for £500, sold old engine for about £250 and spent about £800 getting it fitted, parts. Creature comforts dont bother me, i think i have done well now seeing my polo is giving me the performance figures the gti boys have
It was samuel090180 that asked why you didn't buy a GTi, Alun just said he's glad you got rid of the chromes

Thats if you don't mind mate...Cheers. sanj.
Will try and find out who sparky was, my mechanic arranged it so i dont know.

Randy change them rear lights, front splitter and mirrors mate! dont do the car any favours.....but i am glad your loving the GTI
Supposedly the air con can take up to 5bhp away

Yep, u sure dont need aircon here!
The mirrors and the splitter are staying... i dont like the gti splitter as i think its the norm and would rather have something different, personal taste- and i actually like the front of my car a lot! As for the mirrors..... hmm not fan of standard and i was thinkin about them but i think im just gonna keep them.
Rear lights... again dont want standard but not sure what else to get, also money is tight! May just stick with them.

No sorry, neither can remember what was at fault. All my mechanic remembers is that the sparky connected the car up to his laptop.
Yes, not very useful but im sorry. The sparky is pretty old!
Im assuming if you have the software to connect the car to your computer it will just tell you what faults you have.
Hows the conversion going anyway? Ive not had my done long, and now i want to go faster!!
Loving the whole go-kart feel though, especially with the 13's!

coversion is going really well now...
My mate is in the middle of finding out if the 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v fuel pumps run at near enough the same pressure.
the dash wiring and engine bay wiring is all in and buttoned up.
Pedal box is welded and in, and tomorrow night the dash will go in...
This evening my mate ade did the cambelts, tensioners and water pump replacement and fitted my AUX belt so i don't run the aircon compressor.
Got me the correct GTI clock cover surround too...bought off ebay for a tidy £30, instead of paying £160 at VW like they wanted!
Got a few parts on back order and am still waiting for a few from a lad breaking a mk5 (central locking bits inside the doors) but once i have those, the cards can go in too!
Last nightmare will be finding a temporary exhaust system to fit it.
I have pics here if anyone fancies a butchers:

a bit further lol...but not far off looks wise...
I have removed the sunroof mechanism, i'm fitting a mk5 one...just need to have the roof lining and sunroof shutter retrimmed in a dark vinyl...sounds bad, but its more hard wearing and will look good when its in.
The dash parts have now all been sprayed a solid black colour, and i'll be fitting the O gauge wiring kit tomorrow to relocate the battery to the rear.
still need to go collect my half cage and i'll be riding dirty lol from july!
Wheels have gone to refurbers...thats all i'm sayin, but they'll look 10x better when they're back
got my skirts, bonnet, mirrors etc and a whole host of stuff still to get done to the body of the car, but it'll be at edition38 and the polo show this year...

It is a quite a bit of difference, especially how quick it picks up speed and how easily it keeps up with heavier cars.
Yeh im not too sure on exhaust anymore either... i think im gonna go for something different... like two small pipes joined together... like most people have on theirs. Anyone know how i can change this without changing the hwole backbox... can i just buy a tip to replace my current one and where can i get this from?
