can a 1.4 gearbox cope on a 1.6?

sorry mate i've brought the 1.4 one now everything seems fine and i cant notice any difference so if there is it cant be big. i've got a haynes manual and theres nothing about the ratios in there. Anyway..... just one more thing i gotta sort now, i just got back from euro car parts with a new throttle body because i got an ongoing running problem so hopefully i'll have that sorted today if not it was an expensive mistake lol
