How do you drive the Polo is what you should ask yourself, I Don't know how much money you have put into it and none of my business. But looking at it in your sig a fair few quid to say the least, Now do you like to throw the polo around the twisties and things like that or more for the asthetics?

The reason i ask is because you considering putting a bigger engine in the polo, Yes i'll prob be shot for saying this, but you are going to loose all that handling with the heavy front end and the corners are not going to fun no more. Although in a straight line you would mince alot of things!!

Where as the TT has the Quattro it will mince corners and if you remap and engine upgrade, not only is it fast just now but will be faster in the straight lines, and as said mince corners. Its all a compramise to be thought of here.

But good luck in your decision as to what you do buddy, and if you do go ahead with the swap, mind plenty of pics!

My neighbour has got a 52 reg TT S line quattro 225 bhp and it was re-mapped as a one off in an Audi dealership from new, putting out 275 bhp. Only mod he's done is put RS6 19" alloys on and it's the ballocks. The car justs sticks to the road no matter how fast you go around the corner. Well.... within reason!

KEEP THE POLO!!! or get a different car

sorry i'm not one for this thread really i hate TTs (no offense!) i know they have good specs and that but i've always thought their the girl or hairdressers version of the A3!

On a serious note, I really would keep the polo though and get the conversion, you've always said your someone for being different, whats different about a TT? the polo will be unique and with all the money spent on it, it would be a shame?

plus you know it wont just be 10k on the TT.......... once your settled with it mods will creep into your mind and into your wallet!

good luck either way

To be honest calling the TT a hairdressers car, could easily be turned around to call the Polo a shopping car etc.

I've always liked the TT, looks good, that amazing interior and quite fast with 225bhp. However they are a bit common place.

Which is why I'd go for an S3 instead.

nows a good time for the polo to go though.....76k miles, 15months vag warranty on gearbox...running abolutely perfect in every way and also has mot and tax

i know the whole hairdresser car thing....but i love the TT....strip out the rear, 4wd coupe with enough power and the best dash out there full stop

it depends on what you value? is money really that important when compared to the endless joy of overtaking subarus in a polo?

Youd expect that from a TT, but never,I SAY NEVER!, a polo.

I like the idea of the 1.8T in the polo, and seeing that you spent so much blood and tears already, it would seem a waste to let it go. A new engine might be just what it needs. Who knows, you might even keep the polo for another 10 years. Keep it under cover as your pride and joy. and use another car as a daily.
I agree with this. 1.8T conversion isn't a common conversion in a Mk5 GTI, and a Mk5 GTI isn't a common car. This combined would be something totally different, even if the idea in principle isn't anything knew. Be a good way of finding out how much power the chassis can take with suitable upgrades

It's easy to go out and buy a faster car. I could sell my Polo and buy a 172/182 but I choose not to

i dont think i want to be the one to find out what it can handle with suitable uprgrades! i would just want a super fast polo haha

ye but a clio 172/182 are nowhere near as quick as a TT and the TT engine will not be staying standard

Putting a 1.8T into my Polo is something I've considered for a few months now and I get my mates asking "You going ahead with this?" I'll say "Nah, too expensive" and then I get "Do it! Do it!"

Anyway, from reading what you've posted here Tom you seem quite set on the TT but because you still like your Polo you can't think of getting rid of it. It looks to me that you're more passionate about getting a TT.
