RUM4MO has actually given me the answer i needed. There are no factory standard HID's that came as standard on a 9N polo.

Not the answer i wanted to hear, nevermind :(

Have a look at Autoexpress's test stuff, you're looking for bulbs (same type and wattage as standard) that give a whiter light and promise lots more light output. One thing is that these bulbs "burn" at a higher temperature so may not last as long as the standard "long life" bulbs currently fitted to your car. Having said that, the second set that I fitted to my wife's Polo 9N are lasting longer than the first set of the same type. Normaly you will get better deals on-line, so buy both dips and mains together to save postage - my tip would be to stick to mainstream players, ie Philips, Osram etc and avoid "special weather condition bulbs" as you are only after a lot more and whiter light output.
