For 10k from JBS or Awesome, I would get all parts supplied with 12 mth warranty, audi s3 engine cleaned/refurbed, motorsport ecu, custom downpipe, custom 2.75 inch exhaust, k03s or k04 turbo, custom intercooler, samco hoses, FK coilovers, 02a gearbox.

They said that if I got my own engine i wouldnt save that much cash as most of the money is for the labour. I had found a nice s3 that had been rolled with no front end damage for a donor but it worked out that if I used that i would save about £650 but get no warranty on the parts that I sourced. :(

To be honest, you are having quite a lot done & just for a decent engine inc mods with refurb you won't get much change from £2k or so.
Plus the labour costs will be high, as the fabrication involved will time consuming. It's all those fiddly bits that cost.

Looks like you are going for a 'top-end' quality build, are you uprating the brakes too? Will be a rocket-ship when its complete!

Bet you're gonna be booking a few track days!!!

Forgot to mention the solid flwheel and the uprated clutch too.

The idea is to do this once and basically get a 'new' car at the end of it. I had toyed with the idea of just getting the absolute minium done to get the 1.8T in there but I've convinced myself that, that would be a false economy.

Brakes are going to stay as is, atm I've got 280mm brake set-up from a G60 with drilled/grooved discs and harsh ferrodo track pads.

Regarding track days, yeah what fun that'll be! :D
