I think they could be R6 carbs mate Confused
indeed they are sir. I was quite drunk when i bid and i mistook them for R1 carbs. Ive bought them now so im kind of stuck with em lol. should still see gains from them theoretically.

YOU KNOW SIR!!!! YOU KNOW!!!!! I see thats your engine sir, and its looking very nice. Expect some PM's when i get around to fitting this this shizz-"EL"! lol.

Im not to clued up on the hole Carbs.... but I guess it will let more air out of the engine into the exahust quicker... but do you need a better CAM shaft for a good effect... also how much does this effect your petrol consumption???
Im not too clued up either my friend. I just like to dive in head first and see how much money i can spend.

You have your ins and outs crossed mind. A carb lets air into the engine, it then does somethign magical in the block, then explodes (though this could be the magic part, tests are still inconclusive), then goes out the exhaust. I should expect too see atleast 10bhp from this mod. I have no facts to prove that mind, nobody to quote. Just pure guess work. You dont necessarily NEED a better camshaft to run on moto carbs but too see best gains from it i should thnk it was advisable. Hence i shall soon, hopefully in the next two weeks, be purchasing a 270 degree camshaft. Im going a bit extreme but in the end i want a turbo too so it should even things out.

Petrol consumption! should think a full tank may get me 10 miles at best lol.

I might also be buying a mk2 polo 1.0L for 200 squids soon. That will be my fuel effecient car and this monster the show/weekend car. Sod running this day in and day out lol. Ill also be swapping the 4 speed box on the mk2 for the 5 speed on the mk4 as im told it can take mroe punishment then the mk4 box. Some guy on clubpolo was suggesting it a while ago. Think he sold the car in the end mind...

LeMeph wrote: well i tell you what getting the head off my old mk3 golf (some may remember the "blue ****") was a bit of an arsehole i must admit. We were in a rush and very limited on tools. All you really need is a decent set of sockets and a ratchet plus someone to make tea (i was making the tea lol). Well i done a bit of work with a piece of scaffolding too but there you go. as its not a whole engine i cant really answer. We left the bottom end in the engine bay as unfortunately the blue beast was heading for the scrappy the next day. I transported it in the back of my sisters 1.0L in an old drawer wrapped in plastic bags that remained in the blue **** from an old job lol.

If i were to be moving an engine on minimum equipment i would probably use a skateboard and some pieces of 2x4 to reinforce the board lol. I like to botch.
Din't my mum make the tea? Hmmmmm lol

Unfortunately progress on the 6N will now be slowed down a bit. Picture shows why:

Read your post in the other section about buying one of these and was wondering when you would announce it. Go for it mate, just dont whack one off on it.... That would ruin the shine!

bwahahaaha. Ill do whatever i please to my paintwork sir

lol

Well it was very certain untill i walked out of one of my jobs this morning. Its going to take some serious convincing with my finaceur that i can afford the payments in a job that employs on a casual basis while i wait for a more permanant job again but well... lets say the paperwork should be here for that in three hours.

Then ill be going down there saturday to talk to them again and try and get a used one as opposed to a shiny new one. Seen one on ebay thats in central london somewhere at a VW dealership thats pearlescent black, only done 8000 miles and is pretty kitted out. So imhoping that will still be available and that they can get it down tomy dealership for me! If nto ill have to browse around at what they ahve at my local one.

But i will get one, one way ro another i shall have teh turbo!

Ill be keeping the 6N though. Gonna do her up to show quality then probably sell her on fairly cheap to a mate of mine when he passes his test. His dads a VW mechanic so itll be well looked after and i can still help the car progress and become even sexier under a new owner!
