at the end of the day lads copers go on a dvla course same as what we who have done the mot testers course do!
During this course you are told what is exceptable and safe and what is not, your are also shown why things arnt safe inc streached tyres and pics and videos or crashes caused bye that fault!
When tyres came up they had loads of very bad crashes put down to tyres not fitted correctly and also test videos from tyre makers showing what happens when badly fitted tyres pop!

So next time a copper pulls u over and tells u that your tyres are dangerious i would advise u 2 belive him and not lads on a internet forum who have NO knollage on cars and how and y they work!
cos when (yes when) you have a blow out and make a big mess of your car and yourself (and hopfully no1 else!!) who will have 2 deal with u (scoop u up off the road!) your mates from the internet or the copper???

Your tyres do look cool but should only be a show thing not for road use so dont be so selfish and go and ither buy another set of tyres and wheels for road use or some tyres that fit those wheels properly!

as for the constant remarks "well race cars have them so it must be ok!" dont be such an idiot!!! for start race cars run on perfectly smooth race tracks not nasty coverd in s**t public roads! Race cars have tyres that have reinforced side walls that cost for a set more than some ppls cars on here! pluss they have the whole car set up 2 run tyres like that!! (have u spent ££££ having your suspention setup, shimed, weighted, load tested???)
so by your theiry i would be ok fitting tyres and brakes 2 my car that dont work (at all) till they get 2 the right temp?? cos race cars do??

sorry 2 carry on lads but this isnt just your lives im talking about how would u live with your self if you had a blow out and crashed into my g/f's car while she is carring my baby! hurting or killing them??
some times the cool factor just isnt worth it!!

All fair points, but at the end of the day a 165/50 tyre on a 7j wheel is not a ridiculous stretch. It's about the limit I would be prepared to take mine to.

You want to save the rants for people running 165/50s on 8s and 9s!

I run stretched tyres, and I'm aware that they can cause more risk than normal fitments, but 165/50 on 7 really isn't that bad. And it's fully legal with that ET.

I have also thought stretched tyre's are a risk. Mainly that tyre's have sizes for a reason.

But what an earth is all this about (above)!

Come on, this forum is better than this!!!!

Oh no, I didn't mean it was fact. I just mery meant the limit in which I'm prepared to take stretched tyres. They definitely aren't safe, but I'm just saying I consider certain combinations of wheels and tyres fine. Where as other are just silly!
