looks like its new clutch time for me! the cable made no difference whatsoever

argh, having simular wierd problems. sometimes it engages with a grunt then yesterday it's being real smooth. i think the owner b4 me changed the clutch and aparently didnt align it properly or tighten it properly. Not quite sure whats going on with the car lately.

I finally got round to fitting mine yesterday.. while the oil was draining during my oil change, I took the old cable out.. and guess what. The new cable was the wrong one. Had it so long now I don't know where the receipt is.
I'll be down VW this week getting a genuine one.
Stupid ECP.

mines back to slipping again (even in 2nd, quite proud of that), but the shift is *very* slick so i'm gonna have another jiggle with the cable. maybe all i need is some nutlock for the adjuster
(after all the linkage nut came loose with the warmer weather in summer, its conceivable same thing's happening with the clutch cable in spring)

Just realised.. that's CANT be happening, as the effect is as if the nut is continually *tightening* itself rather than loosening.
So the suspicion drifts back towards the clutch itself - is this the "clutch drag" phenomenon my dad rattled on about?

just to update, i had my clutch changed at JBS, they said my flywheel was also buggered. now changes like a new car
