is that not lbs?

ah ok. with tyre - makes more sense. remember the golf tyre is bigger though. good info 8) . Also, a new tyre is about 3kg heavier than a completely worn one.

so in theory there not bad at all due to the fact they are 17" wheels

Looks like you can save about 2kg per wheel if you go for light 17s over the TT comps. if you stick with 15" sport alloys you save another 4kgs or so. For best compromise I'd go for lightweight 16s.

But personally a car that looks nice is better than one that goes 2% faster.

i think we would agree with a remap to 145 bhp this "2%" is not going to be even noticeable? especially not with power in the region of 180 to 200 bhp... yorks gt tdi had his running between 180-200 bhp and he could shift on type r s! with a votex kit and 18" alloys :D

When I stick my 15s back on I can accelerate a little bit faster but the reduction in tyre width and higher profile hurts sharp handling.

With 145bhp (what are you doing to get this?) you're betting off getting wheels you love.

for 145 bhp its a custom jabbasport remap, second stage will be sachs clutch single flywheel conversion... pd130 or 150 turbo but i think 130 cos i dont want the lag, fmic, another remap, pd 160 intake and upgrade of injectors... £2000 roughly but it will be worth it as i am going to keep the car for a few good years and ill still do really well on diesel! :)

david have you ever had a little go at top speed in your car with the remap?

Not a top speed, it's not really my thing to rev the little diesel that hard for a long time and I rely on the car for work so a speeding ticket would be murder - I'm mechanically sympathetic! I am sure it would happily pull into the 120s if required. (The 130bhp vRS is 126 top speed).

lol i know what ya mean... mate you will be dissapointed with me because i cant find any bbs rw polo dune alloys anywhere so i may be resorting to comps very soon and my car will look exactly the same as yours :D
