Sumps are only 30ish quid to buy anyway! Its only a metal case with a few bolt holes.
The GTI does have different drive shafts to the other engines though so this needs to be considered.

O not much then
how many miles has the engine done ?
but drive shafts aint they expensive ?

engine had done around 81000, i do still have both drive shafts... ( and a hub attached to the right hand side one as i didn't remove the hub nut before i undid everything else- so the hub had to come off with the driveshaft.)
