Finally some pics :D

I've just spent the last fortnight getting it mechanically sound:

Full engine service inc throttle body cleanout and ALL filters
Tracking and all 4 wheels removed and rebalanced
New Clutch kit inc Release Bearing + Gearbox oil, and clutch cable
Timing Belt kit (this engine is a split head so has two belts)
Water Pump
Replaced missing trim and broken wing mirrors
New tailored mats
HID 4300k kit (waiting to be fitted)

Some Paintless Dent Removal was done today on the nearside. It now just needs some minor paintwork on the front and rear bumpers where it's been scuffed - hopefully done next weekend.

I also got my mechanic to give it a full inspection on the ramp - the brakes are like brand new all round and the exhaust also looks new. All bushes and mechanicals seem spot on and not a single sign of rust. These cars are galvanised with a 12 year rust warranty!!

Overall I'm really pleased. It's going to cost me overall probably what the market rate is for one of these, BUT in that money I've got it as near as perfect with peace of mind that the mrs can happily drive for a few years without it needing much (hopefully)

I'm just thinking of adding a roof spoiler - what does everyone think, is it worth doing on this car with standard rims and suspension or will it look a bit OTT?

Quick update guys.. made some positive progress with the Polo ;)

I've lowered it on Jackson Tuning struts (60mm front and 60mm rear but raising the rear soon). Added new 15x6.5j Dezent Type V polished rims with black inserts, and 195/45/15 tyres. HID 4300k kit already fitted, and this week I added a new GTI grill..

The best mod was done today though - a stage 1 remap. It was quite involved as on this Marrelli ECU you need to split the chip from the board and reprogram in a eprom flasher.. anyways the car has gained around 8bhp and maybe 15lb/ft but it's the power delivery and characteristic of the engine that is most notable.

It pulls from low down and you can change gears at 1k rpm and still pull up the rev range.. and I got the tuner to raise the rev limiter - it flies through the rev range, really a lot of fun..

Still have an annoying knock in the dashboard somewhere and the flipping airbag light is on with the 00588 error so I'll hopefully strip the dashboard down this weekend and re-seat everything correclty inc the airbag slip ring and module..

I need to take some proper pics when the car is polished up but here's a few anyway:

A few more pics from today. Gave it a wash and dry, but no time to polish. Still looks quite presentable in the pics though..

You can hopefully the see the ride height has been raised at the rear from the earlier pics, by about 20mm. It's now riding at around 40mm rear and 60mm front.

I've also added the red grill trim and some red 16v badges from a MK3 Golf valver.. The debaged look was just a bit too bare for my liking and I didn't want a GTI badge as it's not a GTI.. It is technically a 16v and as the ECU has been tuned, in my head I can justify the hot red badge

She's loving it mate - made me promise not to make it look like a boy racer car..

Most of the money has been spent on making it mechanically sound and getting the cosmetics right. As it's an SE, it's already really well specced..

The only real additions I've made are suspension, wheels/tyres, HID's, RCL kit and the GTI grill. Ooooh and the remap ;)

So now it goes like stink and handles like a fly... hmm isn't there an old saying about flies on shyt

You can see my Accord in the background.. I only driving that on long distances now, and a week will easily go by where I haven't even started her up!! The guys on my Accord club ain't too happy about that though hahaha

looks mint, not a big fan of the 16v badges (prefer the 16v badge that came standard on some 6n2s) but each to their own right! and i love how the front sits lower! the wheels work really well too!
that accord looks sick, proper mean looking!

Hmm I know what you mean about the badges but they actually look pretty good in the flesh.. I'll give it a few weeks and if I decide I don't like them I'll just remove them.

The Accord has had mega bucks spent on it the last few years and is a highly tuned beast - around 300lb/ft torque and eats 6 cylinder cars for fun!

As good as the Accord is, my next car is likely to be an Audi - I've always been a Dubber at heart, maybe that's why I'm spending so much time with the Polo.

Theres something about dubs, they dont need body kits or crazy wheels, just some dishes or classic BBS's and dropped to the ground, you will never get bored of the way it looks.

Well the weather wasn't so bad today so I thought I'd give the Polo a quick wash. I'm itching to give it a nice polish and top wax one of these but just not finding the time. It does come up nice with just a wash though..

Also added some 5 door VR6 seats recently - they go perfectly with the grey door cards :)

Also fitted a Nokia Bluetooth car kit, and swapped the 4300k bulbs for some 6000k..

Another quick update, picked up my GTI tailgate yesterday and couldn't wait to get it on!!

I was so damn lucky, it was LB7Z Satin Silver and in pristine condition so didn't need painting ;) Took us a few hours to do it properly, taking out all the wiring, piping and lock barrel etc.

Anyways the end result is great, it's finished the car off just perfectly and I'm really happy with it. I was initially looking at fibre glass replica spoilers off ebay, but you just can't beat the factory look ;)

Also received my wind deflectors from JamesB, and popped them on too.

Sorry for the poor quality phone pics.

Looking good mate, nice update :D

Are those LED fog lights you have fitted there? if so where abouts did you get them from?
