ive heard that filters reduce power?

is that true?

for some cases .. it may reduced the pick up from 0 speed (even worse for i-kit).. and lucky from my 1.4 16V 100ps, the K&N filter are giving out better performance all the way. (but it cost about 10% more fuel)

OK, dumb question time, why is it bad to be drawing in hot air through an air filter?

all engines like cold air, to be compressed with fuel in the chambers. hot air is less dense and gives out less power as a result.

in my polo 9n i have a JR AVC WEBBER filter and it is like this:
it is connected with a samco silicone hose and it's realy cool!!

if the 57-i draws hot air....couldnt u just put a cold air feed??....cos i want a roar from my engine...

and the drop in does not produce that

Attention to panel filters on TDI´s (I don´t know with other motors...)
The excess of oil in the filter will damage the MAF sensor, so caution oiling the filters...
This little piece (Bosch or Pierburg) it´s between the air box and the motor and it´s expensive...
The gains of a panel filter are very small and it doesn´t compensate the risks and the maintenance, in my opinion.
