Not a problem really - remove all the bolts and then applying a bit of pressure on the centre unwind the stripped onesfunlovincriminal wrote:Mate was round last night & helped to tighten up to 30nm, BUT was on last wheel & he set torque wrench to ft pound instead on NM, thus overtightening a couple of bolts & stripping thread from wheel & now they just spinning. Worst nightmare my fault, should have checked.
It there a way to fix this? gutted, 3 of wheels spot on, I'm kicking myself now, should of done em all myself
- The bolts themselves will be fine but the threads will be stripped in the alloy rim
Take the rim to a local engineering shop that do "helicoils" or "threaded inserts" and get them to sort the threads in the rim
Clean the bolt threads of the stripped alloy and re-use
