Why do 6N Polo GTIs have a "1" on the seats?

Sorry, i didnt write that very clearly.

I believe they put a 1 on the seats as it was the first polo to be launched as a GTI in this country.

Pretty sure the 6N version was only available abroad and didn't have the "1" seats in it

The first UK polo gti was the 6N2 hence the seats.

Thats my view on it anyway

I have seen a couple of 6N GTI's with the "1" on the seats for sale on eBay.de though
