Whirring noise when accelerating?

Post by 5509433 »

Doesn't sound good!

I have a similar issue with a whirring noise, except it only appears after you release the throttle and coast.
It doesn't get louder though. It disappears when I then use the throttle again.

Sorry to hijack!

Again, that's how my gearbox started. When I lifted off the accelerator it would make a similar noise and disappear when accelerating again. I never gave it much of a chance to stay like that. It was whirring away both accelerating and decelerating by the time I got around to taking it up to get a refurb and that was after it sat around for a few weeks doing nothing while I gathered up the money.

The bottom line is, if it's whirring like that, don't keep driving it. You don't want to cause any more damage than necessary so try and get it checked out asap :)

Mine didn't really FEEL any different until near the end of the 30 mile journey to the mechanic to get it sorted. By then it felt a bit stiffer but the noise should be enough of a clue that something is up :) Get it checked out though, may not be as bad as suspected.
