i got about 5 or 6 runs in but then it broke :/ So that sucks, Paid £25 for bugger all and £15 entry and had to push my car from the track all the way to the entrance so my dad could tow me home aha. which btw was 4 and a half hours :/ 125 miles I think lol

I have ordered a new clutch and its has come today i think. and I will be fitting it tomorrow maybe so its not all that bad.

Least its a quick turn around with the car but its always gutting when something goes wrong.

If you do drag race the Polo though your going to get through several gearboxes & clutches unfortunately

This is true, It could have been alot worse, Its only costing me £70 so not bad. And its made me realise how frail the polo is :/ But I can learn from this and treat it a bit better :)

When do you think the sensible minimum age is to get a 1.8T golf mk4? I plan this to be my next car but not really sure when to get it. I was thinking when im 21 because of insurance...

Depends which Golf you are after to be honest, they offer the standard GTI which has 150bhp and the Anniversary edition which is tuned to 180bhp. I imagine the standard 150bhp 1.8T GTi would be a similar price to what your paying now in terms of insurance because they are not really any quicker than the Polo when standard.

The difference with the Golfs is they have enormous tuning potential :)
Even a standard Stage 1 re-map should see somewhere between 185-200bhp from the 150bhp 1.8T engine.

Shop around for a few quotes

I was after the aniversary one :) But i do plan to tune it so was thinking is it worth paying more money for that one when I can just tune the normal one aha

Yep quotes will be interesting!

Yeah the Anniversary edition is the one I would go for if looking for a Golf GTI.
Probably best waiting until your atleast 20 though because the insurance will be horrendous otherwise.

A cheaper alternative would be the Seat Ibiza Cupra which has the exact same engine & bhp.

There not that frail to be fair, maybe you clutch was already shafted when you bought it ?

I had my clutch replaced when they did my gearbox but this was only for good measure, i have hammered mine down the pod plenty of times with no problems.

What kind of times were you getting ?

Yeah I think it was already shafted and a bit worn already when I got the car but it wasn't getting any worse so I thought that was what the clutch was like and I have been driving it hard so I'm a little confused as to why it had decided to go now :/ but I think it was due a change anyway so it's not too bad.

The only time I remember was 17.68 but that was with a wheel spin and major clutch slip, so it wasn't a good time at all. I didn't even manage to get to 80 mph by the end of the strip :/ it sucks!
