Service done today! new oil, spark plugs and filters all around. The fully synthetic oil really quietened the engine down, glad it was a cheap fix :)

Next up will be alloys, and lowering. I've been looking at springs mainly because they're more suited to my needs.
Question: when looking at the lowering height, does the real world value tend to go lower, higher or is it spot on to the one stated? For example with the H&R 35mm springs, what can I expect?

Thanks

Glad it feels better after the service mate :)

With 35mm lowering springs expect a realistic drop of 28-30mm on the standard shocks.
The stated lowering height is never really realistic unless you get yourself a proper kit.

The H&R 60/40 Lowering kit is one of the best out there and does give realistic ride height reduction.

If you want just springs then I would recommend getting a set of Eibach Sportline springs.
The sportline have a claimed "50mm" drop but they actually lower the car between 40-45mm which is not bad at all.

Ben :)

Hmmm 30mm would probably be too high because I'm looking for around 40ish mm drop overall. The Sportline seem to be the ideal choice then :D
I hope the standard shocks can cope with them...at least for a few months.

Yeah mate the standard shocks will be fine with the sportline springs (provided there is nothing already wrong with them).
I think they retail at £130 so its not a bad price and they will improve the look of the car. :)

actually found them for less than £100 from Germany, can't really ask for less
I hope I'll find a decent set of alloys later on, cause I'm tying the two mods together

Thanks for all your help Ben!
