As has been said, and done before - motorbike engine in the back of the car is the best way to do it.

i was just trying to see if anyone else had any more ambitions than just changing a couple engine parts and wheels.
Funny how a simple question of has anyone done this? and everyone jumps down my throat assuming that im gonna do it lol

agreed, this is a fairly negative thread so far! Some people just want to tinker and spend cash on their cars to make them different, nothing wrong with that. It really depends on what you want as an end goal. A car that's different or one that's better handling on a race track than most? I would go RWD if anything due to the "simplicity" of it.

Some time in the distant future I've like to VR6/24v the rear end of a mk2/mk3, maybe a woopercharger for giggles.
...and then enjoy watching peoples faces as a "s**t, old shopping trolley" goes by sideways avec smoke and noise.

Surprised no one's mentioned the Dahlback RWD converion using the Audi 5 pot turbo. It's pretty mental.
