I'd have rather had a light in the glovebox how often do you actually use the mirrors in the visors let alone think I need them lit up

The run in period is coming on nicely now, nearly at 900 miles. Still very happy with the car, impressed with the quietness of the car on the motorway and the high refinement for a super mini.
One question for those of you the tsi engine though- is it just me or does the engine torque seem low in first gear, almost as if the turbo isn't spooling up properly? Once you get it into second it seems to pull even harder than in first. Could it be that there's some kind of limiter so you don't inadvertently spin up the wheels in first?

There's a cracking little write up on the 1.2Tsi in "Autoexpress" comparing it to a MKII Golf GTi. It surprising how close the two cars are on performance, quite impressive as the GTI was a benchmark car in it's day.

To be honest not noticed the lack of pull in first, never really push it in first. Pull through the gears is astonishing considering is only a tichy little 1.2. I find it really punchy in 2nd & 3rd around traffic in town, impressed how nippy car is. Where it has surprised me is on the motorway, I expected it to be a bit guttless, but it's in it's element. Very pleased with it so far.

I managed to fit the mud flaps today, they certainly look okay and fit well. I also fitted the spare steel wheels with 186/60/15 winter tyres, I can tell a slight difference between these and the standard 215/45/16 tyres, the steering feels slightly lighter and the ride is a tad more comfy, hopefully they will make life a bit easier when the colder weather comes. Annoyingly, after giving the car a good clean followed by some paint sealant, I've noticed some slight blemish marks in the paintwork. To the right side of the boot lid, just beneath where it meets the window glass, and a patch on the drivers side rear quarter panel, just under the crease that runs along the middle of the body panel, a strip about 10" long by 1" wide, it has the appearance of being a bit duller than the rest of the paintwork, if you look closely you can see lots of faint scratch marks on it, as if someone has drawn a fine sand paper along the paint. It looks to be on the surface of the metallic paint, but beneath the lacquer coat, a light polish hasn't touched it. I'm reluctant to report it as a repair job could potentially end up with a worse result, still a bit annoying on a 'premium' product.

Sorry to hear you've found some blemishes in the paint, I'm very picky paint wise but I'm reasonably pleased with finish. Though I have just found my first sone chip of any significance :( . I'd certainly try a more agressive polish first.
