right all i can think of is if the oil leak you stated before was your gearbox leaking oil as the gear box linkage in these can go quite easily and that results in an oil leak... anyway if its runing very lox on oil that would explain the strain of changing gears and how stiff it has become ???,
anyone want to back my theory up

?
sorry to hear about all the problems your having with it, i was the same in the first 6 months of having it i must have shifted near 2 grand on the car and just wanted rid of it, and all that was mates rates and me calling in a lot of favours. but 2 years later the car is reliable (except for a little hiccup at the weekend thats now sorted), and i know that mechanically most things in the last 2 years have been replaced, mended, refurbished or at least looked at and given the all ok and now its only maintenance that i have to do,
between everyone on this forum most problems with the 6n2 gti or not can be worked out and resolved so keep with it cause i promise you it all pays off in the end,

Thank you! I hope it does all pay off, because at the moment I do just want to get rid. I don't have the time to be faffing around trying to get it fixed right now with uni work

I don't have the money either, if it's going to be something major!
When I took the car into VW they said it was oil coming from the throttlebody? :S I don't know you could be right, it would make sense...but nothing seems to make sense where cars are concerned hey!
Right so the plan is to call the RAC out in the morning, get them to look at it. If they can't fix it there and then, which lets be honest, they won't be able to, they'll take me to an approved garage within 10 miles. Once the garage has properly assessed the situation, I'll get a price and if I think it's far too much I'll have to see about trying to get the car back to Wales whilst it's still under warranty.

I'd say with gear change troubles, I'd put my money on pedal box I these little bliters!! Poor design on original build gave them a spot weld where it should have been a mig weld. Look into that! This was updated on new builds of the pedal boxes

Just got myself a Silver Polo 6N2 GTI. I've heard no one really has an easy ride with them, as far as problems go and I guess I'm no exception.

Mine has been running problem free for the 3 years I've had it so far... Done allmost 45K miles in it, Including 4 laps of the Nürburgring Nordschleife and 5-6 Laps of th Nürburgrng GP Circuit.

I've got a definite feeling this one should have been sold with a trailer haha! No idea on the problem yet, I won't know until it's home and been taken to a garage there

I'm scared to know the outcome! From suggestions though, it's probably something to do with the new clutch cable, the clutch itself or gearbox! The good thing is now that we've got use of this trailer, it can be taken back to Wales and fixed under warranty, rather than having to foot the bill myself!
I'm going to be scared to drive it now...even after it's fixed. It wasn't very funny when the clutch cable snapped. To make matters worse, I was on a main road about to turn a corner, managed to roll round the corner and break down right on the corner. As I was already out of gear, I couldn't get back in gear to go any further. Buses were missing the back corner of my car by centimetres I'm telling you. It's amazing that people were still beeping at me, even though it was obvious I'd broken down and couldn't go anywhere. Northerners hey

(only kidding!)
I know V! Not having luck with cars at the moment hey! It could be worse...I could own a Peugeot.
WHEY! Someone else in Huddersfield

I see plenty of dubs around Huddersfield but I've yet to see another GTI yet! Might see you around buddy! Anyway I'll be able to tell it's you?

So the Polo has been looked over...yet more bad news.
They've re-adjusted the clutch cable as it had slackened off on the first drive. They found a bent bolt somewhere either on the clutch or between the clutch cable and the clutch? No idea. Apparently it would have been caused by the impact of the previous cable snapping.
Then whilst they were test driving it, it started squealing. Turns out there's now something wrong with the alternator. They've changed the belt - this didn't solve the problem. Next they're going to change the bearings? We'll see if this fixes the problem...I should know by the end of today if it's fixed and ready for me to collect this weekend. *Fingers crossed.
