No mate. One of the guys on here had some springs fitted by a VW technician for either £40 or £50 cash in hand. Wondering how i'd go about approaching one of their technicians...

Hi AJ_7, I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing however I'm unsure which one to purchase? you mentioned the 3 different weights... but which one would suit a 1.4 SEL?

Bruiser, you need to check the weight of the 1.4. I'm not sure how much this weighs without research but I'm pretty confident it will either be the 830kg or the 860kg ones you need!

Anyone got an update on this? Because these are Volkswagen parts (although not uk parts) I don't have to tell my insurance?

Can a vw dealer not source the parts?

Guys ~ You need to tell your insurance about 'any' changes that you make to your cars

That's any modifications from the standard spec as your car was 'built' and that includes later upgrades from higher spec models

They will come down heavy if you need to claim or have a claim against you and find your Polo is not what or how they thought it was

All insurance comps will look at this differently ~ so talk to them on the phone and explain the changes

Mine was OK about the VW lowering springs because they were fitted by the dealers after six months of bouncing around
It is listed on my policy schedule as a modification to steering/suspension, but I didn't pay any extra because of the change
I would have if I had changed the wheels as well and they asked me twice about this to confirm the details over the phone

I told VW insurance after six months into the free first years policy and they said it was OK for this year but it could increase next time
Going back to my previous insurers with full no claims last week gave me a good deal on fully comp, legal and breakdown recovery etc.

I've got the OEM springs which are Eibach. Not as low as I wanted but does not effect warranty as dealer fitted at PDI, I also have a free years VW insurance and when I called them to ask about fitting them they said as long as they are the OEM ones and dealer fitted they are fine. Looks so much better than standard height, a lot better. Fitted to 2013 R-Line
