:) :o :)

Can't wait to get my car this Friday! Also, going to drive back to Yorkshire for Easter in 2 weeks so will test out the mpg as well.

By the way do new cars need a run in period? Can I go over 4000rpm after 500 miles?

Cheers

I don't go over 4000 now, most I do is 3500. I did run my car in for the first 1000 miles, but it's so torquey you don't really need to thrash it.

Just checked the fuel situation before clambering out of the car, and it's registering just under a quarter of a tankfull left, with 215 miles on the clock. Read from that what you will. :D

Actually, I took her out today and the poor thing just seemed so slow! Now obviously I'm now expecting to break the 10sec barrier in the quarter mile, but it just seemed slower than normal!

Oh yeah, and for anyone with a 1.2 Polo...DON'T carry 5 people in it at any one time! I had the music blaring out last night so that my mates couldn't here the weedy 'lil thing screaming just to keep up with traffic! (Slight exaggeration, but almost that bad!)

Ratty

Even my car fealt slow today... It was 23 C today in Sheffield, and I had been sitting in traffic for ages too, so the (hot) air that the engine was breathing would have a lot less O2 in it compared to on a nice crisp cold morning.

Just my 2p

Oddly, whenever it gets really hot, my car seems to loose almost exactly 10hp.

Oh, hang on, that'll be the air-con!! :D

Deek.

Yeah, I was gonna say mole, however bad it is for us lot, it's a lot worse for these turbo'd cars.

Never gave the heat a thought though! Makes me feel a little better, although it's even warmer today, and I'm taking a couple of mates out for lunch. This could be embarressing!

Errrm I don't really notice any difference in power if a/c is on or the temp is higher.

Trust me, when you've only got 75hp to play with, you notice when 10 of them go missing.

I'm only saying 10hp, because that's what someone told me the typical drain of an a/c unit is, I don't know in reality. But you do notice a drop in power when pulling out of junctions, for example.

Deek.

God, just imagine if I had A/C...

on a hot day with that on...I'd probably be lucky to get 30bhp out of the poor ol' girl!

By the way, I know of someone who had their GTI anniversary (standard 1.8T) on the rollers, and got 170bhp. But then they realised the climatronic was set to 'auto', so they switched it to 'off' and got 175bhp. Just incase you're interested! :)

I've just finished my 3rd tank since I got my 9n FSI. And also just run in 1003 miles when I filled it up! Havn't really taken it over 3500 rpm yet.

My last tank full I just got around 370 miles out of it so I'm well happy!! :D
I didn't use the air con and didn't drive over 70mph.

Seeing as the first 2 tank fulls got me around 320/330 miles, I think it's pretty good.

I have now done 1400 miles and managed 450 miles on my last tank to Devon and drove between 75 to 85 mph! :D
