It's for the sealant bead. You'll need to seal onto it then tape it in place

Re: How to Install Golf MK4 Rain/Auto rear view mirrors
Alex,
Can you help me with the colours of wires (rain sensor/auto dimming mirror) from vw polo gti 6N2. If you remember you mentioned colours of wire in items I bought of ebay (r32 ) might be different.
just want to make sure its not going to be another failure.
I looked at the wiring diagram and colours of wires in my auto dimming mirror/rain sensor - they look the same.
please advise...

Re: How to Install Golf MK4 Rain/Auto rear view mirrors
Hi Alex,
I am stuck in another problem.
In my new relay (427) I have 9 pins and in my plug I have all 9 pins holes, but only 7 pins with wires (is this correct?). Pin 8 and 9 on relay has not matching wires on the plug in my car?

If you look at the schematics are they important?

Second, issue I have 3 plugs behind the bonnet opening switch. Which wires are the right ones? please suggest see the pictures... or do I need to open my dash completely to find the right wire?

All together

need help here..

Re: How to Install Golf MK4 Rain/Auto rear view mirrors
Hi Alex,
I have completed the wiring today. but seems its not working?
In diagram / Current flow - all the wiring goes to T9 connector (which is the big connector behind bonnet pull handle). All connections done but when I pour glass of water on the sensor my wipers doesn't start.

You wont believe. I bought a full internal harness from scrappy.. just to make sure all the connections are correct.. I opened the wiring to see where every wire is going. and nothing seems out of place in my cars wiring?
I also tested auto dimming mirror no show..
do I need to enable it from VSDS?
any ideas?

The wiper stalk needs to be one position down where the intermittent wipe used to be for the sensor to work - check that and try again
As for the mirror it'll only dim when the headlights are switched on. The test is to turn on the lights, cover the rear sensor with your hand and shine a torch on the front sensor which should make it gently dim down.

Check the rain sensor wiring. If its not working, its possible you have a faulty sensor. Its happened to me before.

Thank you Alex...
I have requested ebay seller to send me another one.
just wondering if there is any way to check the sensor (with multimeter)?

Hi jag
The resistance between one of the wires and ground changes when water is detected. I have a feeling the voltage might change too so you'll have to test it and see what results you get

I would check your wiring twice over - theres no reason why it shouldnt work with a new sensor
