I think it is a dead end I'm afraid, at least without spending some more money.
I'm in the process of trying to fit a MfFSW to my friends 2013 polo 1.2 TDI SE, the one with the controls on the left hand side only.
I have purchased a leather steering wheel like the one you have in your car, except with the controls on the left and the controller of course, and although the airbag from her existing car is the right size it does not fit to the MFSW as the airbag retaining clips are different.
Basically, I need a different airbag to complete the job, and they're expensive. I would also need to complete some minor wiring changes and coding too.
If you specify the MFSW from the factory, it comes with a different airbag, they physically look the same as all the others but the way the airbag secures to MFSW steering wheels is different.
So, you need a steering wheel and compatible airbag to fit buttons to your wheel I'm afraid.

Forgot to say, on the two wheels I have access to (apart from my own GTI one which was just as simple as adding the buttons) one is the same as yours Chrispy (just not leather) and the new MFSW is leather with left hand controls.
There is no way of swapping the buttons from the MFSW wheel to the standard wheel either, the rear mouldings are different and the shape is slightly different at the outer most part.
So, looks like a MFSW wheel and airbag required unfortunately.
Thanks for the link Ciclo, not as expensive as I thought. Give that my friend is only really interested in a leather wheel, m just going to source one of those.
