Sorry I couldn’t find the post (I think it was in your build thread) where you explained about WRM needing to be SW 8xxx for folding mirror, yes this is correct as a minimum but, I have found one exception to this rule, the T5 ‘K’ revision WRM has the exact same SW & HW number as my WRM but it is missing 3 pins and once opened it is possible to see all the components that are missing
‘K’ revision with missing components
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201801 ... 88ea35.jpg

‘L’ revision with marked components
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201801 ... 670ca0.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201801 ... f893cb.jpg

Maybe not very expensive to add most of the components, except for the PWM driver for the mirrors which also needs the SW copying from the L module
for example...hmm... here  viewtopic.php?f=56&t=58703&start=3870#p527509
Maybe it's another possibility, although somewhat cumbersome for most. I like all the researches you do... you rock! :)

Looks perfect all the improvements you've made, but especially the LED license plate lights ... and ... something that can hardly be seen in one of the images ... you're a bad boy. (wow ... that's an awesome job)

Adam87 wrote: Mon Jan 08, 2018 10:58 pm The discover media component protection (CP) requires the unit to firstly not have CP activated.

Then the unit then needs this little PCB soldering in place of the eeprom chip and the eeprom chip being soldered onto the new patch PCB

Image

This patch PCB basically rewrites the original value back to the eeprom chip every time the unit is powered off/on or reset thus resetting the internal timer that activates CP when CP messages are not received from the cluster

Next there needs to be a CAN filter placed on the CAN lines to the radio to stop it receiving CP messages from the cluster and making it activate CP. (only needed with 3D and ~2015> clusters)

That’s it [emoji4]

Wow... they are really going out of their way to stop retrofitting!!!

Thanks for the info though, it's definitely food for thought!

What is your headlight switch from by the way?

I think it's 5ND 941 431 E XSH like this one in ciclo's 6R: viewtopic.php?p=495165&sid=6f5aeaca84b4 ... ae#p495165

Yes I have to thank Fernando for this switch, I don’t know where he got it.... but I like it [emoji41] is it from the new Tiguan?

T5 climatic to Climatronic retrofit

Next up was the climatic to climatronic retrofit (Big job) [emoji23]

First up I removed the seats (not 100% necessary but I was removing them for other reasons)
Image

Next, dash out [emoji33][emoji23] (it looks worse, I could probably have it out in an hour now)
Image
Image
Image
Image

Next was to remove the top of the heater/fan box (the bit with all the flaps/motors/sensors on)
Image

Off memory there are about 8x 5.5 hex headed screws to remove, 2 of which were only possible with the heater matrix cover removed and the matrix pushed to the side a little, 2 more are located right at the back and was a little awkward
[emoji1370][emoji1370][emoji1370]

Here is the Climatic one removed with the heater/fan box Climatic loom
Image
You can see here [emoji1370] a space where an extra motor could be
Image
Image

New Climatronic setup with new loom
Image

Here you can see the extra motor (this allows the 2 sides to have separate temperature control (Dual zone)
Image

Now the old blower thermal fuse needs to be removed and replace with the blower speed controller, it’s only 2 screws
Image

Luckily most of this is plug and play, the Climatronic loom plugs straight into the Climatronic panel and connects to all the sensors and motors, the plug that connects to the main loom (T17a) has some pin relocations.

Then all back together [emoji16]

Yes, AFAIK is exclusive for Tiguan model that is sold in China.
Perfect for PQ25 platform (VW), Golf VI, etc...(same dates)

:) Interesting conversation with the user of the Russian forum. The secrets of 6R are difficult to explain.

In addition to take into account the backlight color, it is also necessary to take into account the position with which it fits into the dashboard.

BTW, I love the photos you take. 8)

Could you tell me if Discover Media (without Component Protection) is P&P with RNS510?
What else did you have to change to make it work?

Unfortunately not, it requires patch board inside and sometimes can-filter depending on year or 3D cluster, then quadlock adapter from old to new

Ah, it's a pity. So even if I found a radio with component protection removed it is too difficult to connect it to my 6R..

You need to find a radio where CP has not been activated, it’s not so much difficult just expensive for all the required parts, but yes possible to work [emoji41]
