Dagnammit, I guess I'm definitely doing it the old-fashioned way then!

HI Guys, in case anyone else is planning on doing an extractor oil change, I managed it.

The Pela extractor has wider tubes than some other models, so they wouldn't fit into the dipstick tube of the Polo. I thought I'd try my luck and purchased a slimmer PTFE semi-rigid tube (4mm outside diameter, 2.5mm inside diameter) and connected it to the Pela tube with the help of some PTFE tape. I got 2metres of the tubing on eBay for a round £3.

The extraction went fairly easily, although it took longer than usual to drain through the narrower tube.

The Pela extractors are very good, but as you say, sometimes the hose is a little too large for the dipstick tube
