Back to as good as new. £190 from a breakers wasn’t too bad in the end. Easy to fit and more importantly no coding required!

Not sure I'd pay to replace the VW unit, I'd maybe see if I could get a better one.
Unless you've done some homework and the VW unit is as good as any?

It's not like replacing a whole head unit in cars of old and sticking a Pioneer lump in from Halfords. There's a box of tricks behind the dash (in the glove box on the Golf) that are connected to a screen on the dash separately (like a PC and a monitor, unlike a tablet). The OP has only replaced the screen. As touch screens go, the new unit on our Polos is as good as it gets. My Golf R's screen is horrendous in touch response and accuracy in comparison.

The system also controls a lot of the car's systems/settings too. IMO, the current 'glass' MIB III systems are one of the best options out there. Crisp graphics, responsive, good feature set.

Very annoying and hopefully you get this sorted.

I saw this picture in our local paper today. All 4 wheels stolen and the car left on blocks.

Let's just hope the buggers run out of blocks.

If they pinched the indicator stalk, the owner probably wouldn't have noticed.

I was surprised the owner didn’t attemp to drive the car knowing how unskilled some Audi drivers can be.

I'm surprised they are in breaker's as still quite new model. Watch out for the pixel line that's affecting screens, I'm on my 2nd screen at present.

Glad the OP's car got fixed. Thought cars propped up on blocks, wheels missing was so 20+ years ago, obviously not. If the Audi's indicator stalk, also BMW's, had been nicked the owner prob wouldn't have noticed ....
