ahh ok, makes sense now. sorry, didnt pick up that u got urs from vw.

with the amount of stereo stuff i have in my boot i wasnt too bothered about the shelf, suppose i didnt really think of the weight, but with mine being only a 1.2 aswel im not exactly after performance.

steath shelfs are good as its less hassel to fit/remove speakers etc, but for that clean look with nothing in sight it would be better for you to purchase those black pannels espec. if there that cheap. as 'SiDaBa' said, option is yours

Yeah well actually at the time (i'm over pricing) for some reason one was 97p and one was 74p (or something like that). Any how obviously they're quite cheap. The grille's (absolute guess because i can't remember) are about £10 each, and if you were getting VW speakers (which your probably not) there's an extra rubber bit the goes round the speaker and presses up against the speaker grille (keep sound going in to the car and no where else i guess). Which again are about (complete guess) £12 each.

Most of this was almost 2 years ago now.

Is it just the black panel bits? Does it come with the screws and instructions?

Point I don't get is if they're THAT ridicolously cheap, why didn't they put them in anyway?

And what should I tell my VW dealer?

"Can I order those black thingy panels for the back!?"

Yeah you can order them because i did. Make sure they order the right things though because it took my dealer about 4/5 attempts before they got the right part for me.

I know they're cheap but for the amount of cars they produce it would end up costing quite a lot to put in cars that may not even use them ever, infact most wouldn't go to the trouble. Like the "famous" error Ford made with the escort. Can't remember it to well from my business studies lessons but if i'm correct they under priced the first escort by 10p which made a huge difference to their profit making, obviously for the amount of cars they produce. :)

Interesting.... well do you know by ANY! chance what the parts would be or something like that?

Hmm but now that I most likely have to get that panel and the grilles replaced. I'm not too sure if I should go for the side bits. Or should I just go straigh to the parcel shelfs?!

Any thoughts? :?

Up to you. All depends how hidden you want them. If you have them in the parcel shelf they're easier to remove, and if your unlucky other people to remove. Have them in the back they'll be safer.

However for ease the parcel shelf is obviously the more ideal place if that is your view on it. In the end only you can do what you want with your car.

Hmm thanks for that little analysis of you there. :P But I'm still not quite sure right now.

Arghh... hate this confusion.
