Get a navy blue CL type interior, it's much more the businessPetrified wrote:1. I've heard there is a Black interior and a grey interior for the GT. Does anyone have any pictures of the two to see the difference?
Sounds about right - you should be ok but i think a K or later is not allowed unless you fit a pre-93 engine.2. At what age can you legally de-cat the car? (Mines on a J plate)
Umm... yes... (how old ye be? i thought it was standard fit on all cars til i found out some mk2s lacked it).3. Does it have a rev limiter? I didn't want to try it out..
It's an oldskool type one though, just if the ECU figures that the engine's going over 6x00rpm, it cuts the spark until the speed's dropped enough. Maybe the fuel as well. Absolutely no attempt at progressive limitation (if it's an SPi the engine characteristics do that not far past 6k anyhow) - you can definately tell that you've hit the limiter in 1st or 2nd as its like you've dipped the clutch and suddenly instead of RRRRRR it's going RRr-RRr-RRr-RRr.... in 3rd the effect is reduced but there's still that rhythmic noise. Never managed it in 4th yet, but hey - its a 1 litre and my limiter will be somewhere on the far side of 110!
(6x00 = 6500 for SPi, 6800 GT, 6600? for G40... or a whole lot higher if you have a custom chip - apparently poloace's 1.3 chip's limiter is somewhere on the far side of 7000, and frankly given how much of a caning these engines seem capable of standing up to, i don't doubt it.)
find the bastard and smack him one, if it wasn't chavs nicking it. i managed to figure out my entire stereo wiring with a bit of a poke about, if you have photos i might be able to lend a hand. warning though, it's a long time since i did any serious work with it. at the very least if you get a converter kit and some electrical tape from halfords and snip one end off, i can pop mine out and give guidance on which wire should be taped to which. (no warranty offered!)4. The previous owner decided to snip the radio out leaving me with no plugs on the ends of the wires. I've worked out the speakers but not sure which wire is which. Anyone know of a diagram or and info on this??
slide forwards.... or backwards.... one of those two, and it just pops off. might have to pull gently to break the natural adhesive of "airborne crap" holding it to the bodywork via the rubber seal tho. surprised myself with how easy it was during a dalliance with "clear repeaters" idea (ditto the front indicators, and the rear bulb assembly)5. How do you remove the side repeaters without braking them? I know it should be simple but I've never had to do it before![]()
me mum used to comment on this every rare time she hitched a lift in my passenger seat, and apart from when she mentioned it and about 5 minutes after i never really paid it much attention.6. I'm getting a lot of creaking from the steering wheel, the steering it'self is faultless but sounds like the wheel is rubbing on something. Any suggestions?
mind you, then the pedal box rail holding the brake and clutch in place busted loose from its mount and besides the obvious control-buggering effects, it could be felt rubbing on the steering shaft. cant recall hearing a creak since. about to nip out for a half hour so i'll take a listen and try to figure out if a similar bolt-snapping hazard is likely in your case.
you should try a training course in nuclear medicine mate!Cheers. I feel like a newbie again!
