And theres a couple of german mk2 coupes with vr6 engines :-)

Is there a lot of wire chopping to fit a seat engine ? as its a idea instead of the gt.

Aren't the 1.6 Mk4 Polo/Seat Ibiza/Mk3 Golf engines fitted with blocks which have smaller inlet/outlet ports?

I'm assuming (after a chat with my mechanic) that these could be ported out, maybe even to the same size as the ports on the GT head?

It'd be nice to convert a GT to a 1.6, but I always had the impression that the 1.4 Golf engines lent themselves better to being tuned due to larger port sizes (same as the GT engine). I don't want to bump up the cc only to find I've got something which is quick but mild to drive.

My girlfriend's 206 is a 1.6, it's certainly quick but it's smooth rather than sporty. My impression is that this is what a the 1.6 Polo engine is like.

Is there another 1.6 engine other than the one that goes in the Polo? One with larger ports? Would it still be possible, if this was the case, to retain the GT's high compression and sporty feel?

The other option i suppose is a 1.4/1.6 16v engine from either a Lupo or a Polo. My mechanic's prepared to undertake the conversion, but would it be worth doing? Certainly be different!

I really dunno what to do with mine, still fancy tuning it as a GT but the G40 option seems so easy and is a guaranteed fairly reliable 120bhp, whereas the 1.4 conversion (based on Gareth's RR results the other week) is around 90bhp. 120-130bhp is what I'm after ideally, whatever I do to mine it still has to be driveable, at least until I can afford to run it as a weekend car, and getting a GT to that sort of power is likely to make it pretty useless on the daily grind.

HELP!!! :(

Hmm, decatted, performance exhaust, performance chip and I'd be over 100bhp then...
