I was going to go for the 6260 as well, I think it's probably the only 'decent' phone out, some of the phone are just a bit too 'funky' for my liking...may be I'm getting old, I went for the 8910i in the end...yes, its an old phone but it's nice to hold, study and easy to use, plus I had all the accessories from my old 8910 that could be re-used!

what's an 8910 look like then?

The 8910/8910i looks like this:

I agree there are not just Nokia and Motorola however they are the biggest players in this game. However having said that I've been told that the Japanese manufacturers (NEC, Panasonic, SonyEricsson) will soon take over the two as we move on to 3G as they already have the most experience with the 3G technology. Having seen the handsets on offer in Japan it seems like for our 3G network they are offering all the crap models!

I think I'll wait a while before moving onto 3G...

they're mostly as big if not chunkier than my ol' 6100.... quite easily approaching 3310 size!

Tahrey,

If your 6100 is still under warranty (a year from purchase) you can have the software upgraded for free from any Nokia Service Centre, having worked in Brum for a year the place I went to for repairs was a place call City Mobiles...hmmm not so sure now about the name, but it was up from the round-about with the Pagoda, you must know the one I'm talking about, basically the road opposite the road that leads to New Street Station and Chinatown. It's near a Texaco petrol station and it's on your right going up towards Broad Street and Five Ways.

Quite a handy place to know as I got numerous phone fixed there!

I've got a Motorola v600, and I'll definitely agree with the comments on useability! Its a bit of anightmare sometimes, and the bluetooth software, and they way you have to use it to try and scan for devices, is terrible! :o

However it does feel nice and chunky, and has a good weight to it compared with the other competitors I was looking at at the time, the Panasonic x70 and the Samsung E700 (I think).

Anyway, if I had the choice of a new phone right now (and believe me I really do want that choice) I' d have a Sony-Ericsson (sp?) K700. Definitely definitely. The new slimline Moto looks great, but based on my experiences with the v600, its a no-go.

For reviews on mobile phones, and just about everything else you can buy as a consumer, try www.10goldstars.com and go to the mobile phones section. I found it really useful - but only after I bought the v600!! As for the v3, it gets mixed reviews, but mostly good ones - based around the fact that it "looks great".

would have been back to them in a shot if it were contract or fresh pay as you go still in warranty, but it's not - got 2nd hand off a mate when her contract renewal came round and gave her a free upgrade...

not particularly urgent really as i have the siemens now (with 16x as much memory, able to view "real" websites(!), better ringtones and screen, more responsive menus, built-in camera etc... though the keypad and predictive are tricky!), just wanna get it fixed up to use as a spare / sell on ebay without risk of being bitten in the ass for selling junk.

as i'm thinking about giving my old 3330 to my nan (replacing stolen phone) may just patch and keep the 6100 as a backup in case of siemens taxage... bloke at work is selling a link cable and software for a tenner, bargain (retailing at 39.99 or something daft like that - similar cost for upgrade/repair at nokia centre or vodaphone shop)
