Gareth - you are very close - top marks for a bit of researchGareth_GT_Hatch wrote:Whats the difference between a Monza and a Manta? Is one based on a cav and the other based on a carlton or something? I only wonder because someone near me used to have an opel manta and I dont think I had heard of the monza till you came on here. Quick seach on autotrader has shown that they look similar - apart from the rear end where it looks like the manta is a 3 door and the monza is a 2 door.
Opel Manta based on MKII cavy so 1.8i or 2.0i L 8V four pot lump rear wheel drive and came in 2 door coupe (desirable) or 3 door hatch (no so desirable)
Popular conversions include dropping in the
- 2.4i four pot 8V funtractor lump (kinda hardly worth the effort)
- 3.0i six pot 12V lump from a Monza in
- 3.0i six pot 24V lump from a late Senator B (thats lots of fun then with 245bhp)
Opel Monza based on Opel Senator A so 2.5i or 3.0i 12V six pot lump rear wheel drive and came in 3 door coupe - well the tailgate is a hatch (ish) biggest bit of glass I have ever seen on a car!!!!
Was also marketed as a Vauxhall Royale coupe (very rare - often terminally rusty)
Popular conversions include dropping in the
- 3.6 six pot 12V irmscher conversion (stroked crank, slipper pistons and shorter rods)
- 3.0i six pot 24V lump from a late Senator B (as above)
- 3.7i six pot 24V lump/hybred with Lotus carlton crank billet rods and slipper pistons
Guess what mines gonna get in the summer
