Yeh mate, black alcantara. been on the cards for months but I've never had the time
Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
Sweet you'll have to let me know how you get on, i'm going to get the roof done but do the pillars and interior trims myself. Should match up with the black interior and 6n2 dash

Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
I'm doing it all strict DIY
. I also have some fibreglass plans that will come into play here!
Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
DIY, you'll have to let me know how you get on so I can apply the techniques to my pillars. What are you doing with the fibreglass?
Does anyone know how to remove the handbrake grip? I've got a grip to put on mine but I can't get the golf one or the 6n polo one off!

Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
Just to get rid of the small visor indent above the mirror, and rear handle indents. saves buying 4 Lupo ones!!
Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
My inspiration for the front grille...

Hmm, fair play, they don't look too bad, prefer black though.

Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
Got them from a 16v polo, I think it was off a breakers on ebay but can't remember exactly! Going to get them sprayed this weekend, so should look mint and be able to do some close up shots for once
Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
Forgot to upload the pics of the car on the rollers at the dyno day

Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
Cars seriously coming along nicely, Loving the OEM-ness
Couldn't help thinking, how about black grill, red badge?
Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
Good idea, I reckon that would look good.polo_dude wrote:Cars seriously coming along nicely, Loving the OEM-nessCouldn't help thinking, how about black grill, red badge?
Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
Well its been an eventful day, i've swapped over the rear wheels for steels (another puncture!!!
) then jacked up the front and put it on axle stands for now as i'm putting the GTI front splitter on. Also took the front RXii's off so I can clean them up properly (worse snow in 20 years + tonnes of salt on roads = manky polished lips
and soaking the front coilovers in WD40 so I can adjust the front to lower it down a bit (probably another 10/15mm).

Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
Nice, mine's been on stilts for the weekend also. Make sure you get rid of every tiny bit of dirt on the coils before adjusting them, that's what makes them seize up
Re: Polo96CL's Progress Thread NEW PICS!
Good and bad news
First is good
The bumper had to come off so I could fit the splitter (I have written a guide for this
) and will be properly attached using the self-tapping screws.
Got my tyre fixed, so wont have any issues running the RXii's for a few more months
Although I have to admit I do love the tuck on the steels
Seriously looking at something different though, something VAG in black however i'm photoshopping it to see what I think.
Bad news
One of the bumper screws has seized up and threaded so I had to drill it out. Time for new bolts
Coilovers on the right side have completely locked shut, so i've soaked again for a second night in WD40 so tomorrow they should be free. Once then are loose i'm going to drop the front another 10/15mm for some stance. With the splitter it'll look pimp.
Also the front slam panel has rusted through, so I think i'll need to get one of them. Don't want to risk my car being a write off due to a 5mph shunt!
Anyway excuse the pic quality, didn't have my camera on hand so I had to use my phone.
