would appear lamp clusters and a new dash switch, curious whether the wiring is in

For me xenons were important as just so much better and you get used to the white light and the travel mode is great on the continent so the beams is adjusted

First mod is going to be a VW Bluetooth module

It does come with the Bury style one, however, I want a proper VW module so full integration through the RCD510 and mfsw

I am so jealous right now... I too wasn't sure about the anthracite wheels against the blue, but it looks stunning. Shame I don't have the cash!

The only thing wrong with it is that hideous Bury Bluetooth module...

Wigit, we are going down the same path. When we purchased the wife's current Polo SEL in April 2011, bluetooth wasn't even an option (even the crappy Bury system), so I went ahead and purchased a genuine VW 9W7 bluetooth kit from a seller on ebay. It came complete with the genuine harness, microphone etc., and I installed it and it's been working perfect ever since. As you said, it gives full integration into the headunit (be it RNS510 or RCD510), and also the multifunction steering wheel. As such it will be removed from the current Polo when we sell and dropped into the new Blue GT along with the RNS-510 that's currently in my Scirocco when the car arrives. As such we have asked the dealer not to fit the Bury system (when we learned that the Bury bluetooth is a dealer fit piece of equipment - not factory). The only thing we couldn't get was the display coming up in the central DIS (between the Speedo and Rev counter), as her SEL only had the low line computer which didn't support this. Hopefully the new Blue GT with the highline dash insert will fully support this function through the DIS when properly coded with VCDS.

Here's how it currently looks

PS Wigit, can you confirm exactly what materials the blue and grey seats are. I know the blue bits are alcantera, but are the light grey bits Vinyl or cloth ?

I like the look of it intergrated, I installed the Bury Bluetooth Kit myself and tbh my mum leaves the screen off and doesn't use it, at least this way theres no faffing and its there straight away. Are you gonna wack the Bury Bluetooth Kit on ebay then or let the dealers keep it?

Norbreck21a does the bluetooth module fit under one of the seats like Golf/Scirocco and is there wiring in place?

Seat wise it is light grey vinyl, dark grey cloth and the blue alcantara

What i will say about the Bury kit it has the voice activation is superb, I wanted located by stereo so easy to remove

It can go under the passenger seat, but for ease of use and installation, I installed the wife's in the passenger side kick well (behind the trim and cubby slot that's used for high vis vests), and it fits perfectly and involved the minimum of removing trim.

No, the Polo doesn't come with any wiring, but it doesn't matter as the unit comes with a genuine VW plug and play harness. Plug it into the back of the head unit, and the other end to the Bluetooth box. The hardest bit (although it wasn't that hard), was removing the a Pillar trim to feed the mic cable from the unit up the A pillar then across to the overhead lighting panel. Might have to be more careful if you've opted for the curtain airbags (she didn't), as obviously they run behind the trim.

The genuine VW mic then just clips into its slot on the backside of the trim (over one of the grills you can see in front of the light). Then it's just a case of adding the Bluetooth unit into the CAN gateway using VCDS. The harness also supports voice dialling using the steering wheel button.

Took me no more than 2 hours, but now I've done it once, I think I could do it again in less than an hour.

Thanks for the info on the seats. She does look very pretty :D

Need any other questions answering, just shout.

Cheers

Andrew

Did a deal with the dealer that instead of the bury kit that we don't want, he is supplying all the hardware for a foglights retrofit FOC ( that's both lenses, grills and a new light switch). I'll have to see when the car arrives if the wiring is there (unless Wigit beats me to it :D ), otherwise it will be the Kaufetec kit.

Martin,

I've taken the A-Pillar trim off my Scirocco (fitted with the curtain airbag) to run the voice control harness for the RNS-510, and so long as you are careful and not hamfisted, it won't be a problem. Just ensure that the microphone cable is ran behind the airbag (i.e. nearest to the metal pillar) and is clipped into the factory harness that will be there you will be fine. Again, just make sure during this part the keys are actually out of the ignition (for added safety).

To add to Andrew's comments the guide below shows how the wiring should be under stage 11.
linky

Upon checking the factory position for the bluetooth module is on the floor under the passenger seat using 2 No Velcro strips to fix the unit to the carpet. The unit apparently should not be in a polystyrene "tub/case" as is the case with golf based vehicles. Behind the radio/nav or AC unit is probably the easiest fitting location if there is space.

Ok, so it looks pretty certain I will be ordering a BlueGT in June :D

I'm thinking of adding optional extras to the car - is there anything that I simply must have in addition to standard spec? I'm thinking steering wheel controls and the upgraded stereo possibly, with bi-xenon headlights as a maybe-but-leaning-towards-not.

The car will definitely be a manual, as although I liked the DSG, I didn't like it enough to warrant spending an extras grand to have it!

Is there anything else I should be considering?
