Received a provisional build week of wk 10 today from the dealer, reckons it will be confirmed as then by the factory soon. Ordered on 30th Jan so looking at a 15 month wait, prob not the longest here but a few more than the 5 month wait I was given when I ordered...

Since we’ve come this far I think that those of us who haven’t cancelled their orders are probably gonna stick with it and wait for delivery

Same here. Ordered 15th January and given an unconfirmed build date of week 9. Got this info from dealer and contacted VW and they confirmed. Cars loaded with extras incl. Pana sunroof and Brescias. Also got the text saying onto stage 2!!!

Hi All,
Probably getting carried away with myself with all the latest updates and sparks of life from VW but I have dug out my lovely little "Meet your new Polo GTi+" brochurce provided back when the car was ordered in Jan... ... given how long I have now waited I must admit I have lost some interest and have ignored the spec problems people were highlighting back months ago.
I was hoping some of the people that had colelcted their cars and have been lucky enoguh to receive them would be able to help with a couple of questions?
1.I had ordered the Winter pack which in my "Meet your new Polo GTi+ Brochure" has this listed in full description as coming with Heated Seats / Headlight Windscreen Washer Jets / Low washer fluid warning light - since then it is now evident this is not the case and infact it only comes with the Heated Seats & Low washer fluid warning light..... Has anyone on here attempted and been succesful claiming any compensation out of VW for the misisng original listed items (seeing as it was an optional PAID£ Extra not standard Equipment)?
2. GTi Key Fobs - Did scan through the forum but couldnt find anything but have the people that have recieved their Cars received Key Fobs with the Metal GTi incribed Loops or the standard basic plastic ones (I know previous models VW held these back and did not give them out to the customers)?
Thanks,
Chris

I got a Full refund of the winter pack cost, not just a percentage , from the dealer. I think it was financed from VW.
No info on the key but my dealer said he would have a look around but nothing yet

I think forum member barrywi got some form of compensation for being short changed on the winter pack content on his GTI.
I don’t think you get the chrome GTI-specific key fob tops with the Polo GTI (you do get them with the Golf GTI). I didn’t get them with my previous generation Polo GTI. Bearing in mind how long you’ve waited for your car, I’d imagine you could get the dealer to give you a couple. If not, there’s always some for sale on eBay - assuming the key fob design hasn’t changed from the previous generation Polo / mk7 and mk7.5 Golf. Part no. is 5G0 959 893 FOD.

In a similar vein it looks like VW hasn’t been able to sort out the Wireless Charging so that will come off my order.
Also, dealer tells me that spec update for Jan 19 includes option of Beats Sound System but if you have a build date already, even a provisional one, then it can’t be added

Forgot to say it will be interesting to see what the WLTP models come equipped with as standard. I believe there are two usb sockets in the rear, but that is no use to us as we are allways “ two up”

Good opportunity to carry out some extreme arm exercises and avoid annoying wiring in the centre console area?

Chris
I got a total refund on the winter pack as the car came with heated seats and supposedly a low water bottle warning only. heated jets and headlight washer were missing. several on here got the same.

Hi Chris,
There are no GTI fobs, but you can get Golf GTI ones that need a pin filing off in order to fit on the Polo keyfob. The chrome caps for both the Polo GTI (plain) and the Golf GTI screw on together with the same tiny allen bolt. See below for a comparison between my Polo GTI key and my Golf R key (R has same cap design as the Golf GTI, so same principle). I have arrowed the pin that needs filing down or filing off because the plastic body of the Polo key doesn't have a slot/hole to accommodate the pn. I haven't been inclined to buy the Golf caps and stick them on the Polo key.
In the very early days of the MK7 Golf performance models coming through, the dealers were withholding these caps if you didn't know to ask for them. My Dad had a GTD from the first shipment to hit the UK (should've been mine, but 2 people with the exact same name ordering GTDs from the same dealership, somehow the orders got mixed up and my Dad's DSG GTD arrived 2 months before mine, even though I ordered 3 weeks before him, and they mixed the colours up - I ordered a black manual and my Dad ordered a red DSG - a black DSG turned up first and my Dad took it, with the dealership copping for the metallic paint as my Dad didn't order it. He had to ask for his GTD key caps.
The wireless charging cradle that was featured for the Polo and then pulled due to radio interference regs non-compliance seems to be on the new A1, so they must've sorted the issues out.

Question for the folks who have their GTI+. Do you keep both sets of keys in a Faraday bag/pouch when you're at home?
Seen a lot in the news about keyless entry cars being stolen (particularity the Fiesta ST) and from reading 'solutions' I've seen a lot of people on other forums mention they put their keys in a Faraday pouch when at home. No idea how secure the GTI is regarding this issue, hopefully it's something I won't have to worry about but want to be prepared just in case.
Cheers

I don't, but I have tested the range of the keyless function so that it's not in range in the place I leave my key in the house. You can click the open door button from about 40 yards away, but if you leave the key just 6 yards from the car and go to open the car by grabbing the door handle, it won't work. Seems like VW made sure the keyless range was very short.
If I lived in or around Coventry/Brum I would be worried. The Golf R forum and Audi forums were full of people from that region that had their performance model cars stolen either through burglary or keyless signal interception - there must be numerous organised gangs stealing to order around there that haven't been caught

There’s no point putting keys in faraday bags if you leave the bag and key where it can be found if you home is burgled. Surely the best practice would be to keep the keys in a secure location ie: a safe / safebox. This however leaves the owner in a position where threats of violence could be used in an agrivated burglary situation. If you are worried that you car could be stolen then I’d suggest having a tracker such as the automatrics Mtrack fitted, or an immobiliser fitted, the autowatch ghost is 1 possibility
