Hi Duffman. Hope it won't be to long!! It's Marine Traffic or just type AIS into google. The City of Barcelona is in Sheerness as we speak and as you say will be going to Grimsby and then to Tyne. You can only see where the ship is going and when she's due in by looking under the port itself and looking at arrivals and it will give you then an estimate to that port and then you'll have to follow it round. I think City of Barcelona, City of Sunderland and City of Rome do all the same route so if I was you id keep an eye out on all three! Once they've arrived at grimsby, it will take a day or so for it to register on tracker that it's in the UK.

Also you can set a tracker on the boat and get email updates on when she arrives into ports over the world.

Hope this helps, if you need any more help just message me - no problem!

Tomos

Apparently where I live the documents don't arrive together with the car, they are sent separately by a courier. The result of this is that the car has arrived at the dealership last Friday, but I'm still unable to pick it up... I hope tomorrow is the day.

Also, polos Come straight to the uk from Santander, or at least mine did, no stop over in Germany.

Thanks for the info Tomos. They've told me mine hasn't set sail yet, but allocated to that ship. If the ship is in the UK now then sounds like its got to go all the way back to Spain, or Germany (although what Jack says suggests Spain), before coming back with mine. Could take a while longer if that's the case, or do they mean not set sail yet from Sheerness?

Ive just had a quick look for you now duffman and City of Barcelona is still in Sheerness- heading overnight tonight to Grimsby and should be getting into port at 10:00am, that's when it will have enough tide to come into the harbour. If they miss that slot beetween 8:50 - 1:30 it will have to moor outside the harbour and wait until the tide comes back at 8:06pm.

Mine went straight from Santander to Grimsby.

Just to give you my timeline, the ship came in last Wednesday, the tracker changed on Friday to say that it was in the UK and dealer phoned to confirm that was the case. The dealer phoned me today saying that its in the dealer tomorrow and picking up on Thursday Morning. All in all, you're lookihg at about a week turnaround time from when it lands at the port.

Ive looked at the previous history and it normally takes arround 7 days to sail from Santander to Sheerness.

What's interesting is that the City of Sunderland (the boat mine came on) is docking in Santander tomorrow so it could be on that one!

No problem rm5mcc - any time!

Loving it m8, loosening up nicely. Think the slight squeak on low speed braking is going away too [emoji3]

I've ordered mine from Grimsby VW so I'm hoping when mine eventually gets built/shipped it will end up there and not Sheerness lol

I have to use the ship tracker for work so it'll be strange using it for something else :)

Dealer rang today picking mine up on Friday. All in all very pleased with the service and speed of everything so far. Dealer has offered to collect me from station when I get there as well, nice touch.

I also asked whether the key fob has GTI on it - apparently only the new golfs but he said he'd get one and fit it for me too.

Very excited now - garage cleaned and ready, will have a 200 mile drive home to get used to her :D
