I tried swapping the bulb around to see if that helped any but to no avail. I'll need to get a look at it in daylight to see if I can see anything glaringly obvious.
Any ideas? It was a fairly expensive LED I put in there too from Ultra-LED's so I'd be kinda disappointed if it was the bulb. Definitely cost me more than a tenner too
EDIT Just tried the old bulb in the holder to no avail, must be a fuse or a wiring issue.
Itll be the microswitch in the boot lock
Does the boot open light show on the dash when the boot is open and the ignition on?

Just opened the boot and had the ignition on, dash light illuminates

Is there a fuse I can maybe check? I'm worried this isn't going to be as simple as I first hoped.

Red piping looks good
The piping from eBay is so rubbish at times
The last one I brought cost £2.99 the next day it went down to £1.99!
Went online the other day as my current one had faded again, and they were up to £4.99
The red tape in the long run is much better cost wise in the long run.
And as you said deff looks mire OEM.
Shame about the boot light! Hope it gets sorted sooon!

There is a fuse for the boot light. Fuse 10 (7.5amp)
That fuse is for all interior lighting though, so its unlikely to be that
Itll be either...
a - a blown bulb
or
b - the microswitch has had it and needs replacing
Its more likely to be the latter

Minor Update
Had the car serviced and checked over for the MOT this week and have the test booked for next Wednesday.
Gave it a bit of a clean tonight with fairy liquid (don't worry, it was a one off to strip any remnants of polish or wax already on the paintwork), clayed and dried. Hoping to get the interior, door shuts and engine bay cleaned up tomorrow.
Also put my original mats back in after winter... they're looking a little tired though despite giving them a clean not so long ago so I've been thinking
http://www.carmats4u.com/VW-Polo-MK3-Ca ... oduct.html Would something like this be worthwhile? I reckon they'd be almost identical to the original mats... just not sure what colours to go for! Suggestions?
And finally, I have a new set of crystal clear indicators on the way... my current ones have that green mould around the edges.

Checked the fuse, seemed to be fine.
The light seems to be working again but flickering a bit... I have a video of it but I doubt that's really necessary.
If it's the microswitch, is it possible it could be affecting the boot light without bringing up the warning light on the dashboard?

Dfinately the switch. Gregs was doing exactly the same. Yes it is possible as they use different circuit runs in the switch

I shall have to investigate further... is it easy enough removed/replaced?

10 minute swap. Just buy the new one. The old one isn't fixable. - they become very fragile

Gave the engine bay a bit of a clean this evening. First time I've ever done this so I'm not sure if I've done it right and I'm not sure if I'm 100% happy with it just yet so may have another go at it tomorrow depending on how it looks in the day light.
Gave it a good degreasing with AG Engine and Machine Cleaner, worked it in with a brush and wiped it off. Also tried some APC in various places but it just wasn't as strong as the AG stuff... still did a good job for the minor dirt though. My bonnet latch is filled with complete muck.. i have no idea what it is or why it's even there and couldn't get it to shift at all. The rest has been coated with AG Vinyl and Rubber care though and I think it looks a lot better than it did.
Here's some pics.

Mucky Bonnet Latch

Lovely Cabin Filter - I'll be getting a replacement soon
