M@Turner, I'm still waiting for the second instalment of your fitting guide...my trim is off but waiting for you give me instructions on how to actually install the quick-shifter! ha ha ha!

No seriously, some more advice on how to fit would be greatly appreciated as then I would be able to judge whether I can handle the work required! Cheers!

Well then Chris, if you've got the instructions with you, just read through them a couple of times and then give it a go. I was bricking it before i attempted mine but if you've got a couple of hours spare give it a try.

It would be handy to have a second person giving you a hand as i kept forgetting where i'd put things and how i'd taken some of the things off. If your up and around Sheffield any time soon, i'd happily fit it for you.

The instructions you get with it are really easy too follow. I was abit unsure about doing it myself. Took about an hour and a half with a tea break, and most of that was spent working out out to take out the centre console. Tip.... pull out the little tray above the climatronic, and remove the trox screws! Then i unscrewed the climatronic face, didnt fancy disconnecting any or the wires. The other bit thats a tiny bit annoying is the clip that holds the gear knob to the stick, is kinda a bit of metal thats just crushed onto the stick to clamp it on.

I got round to fitting mine today, pretty pleased with it!

the trim was by far the most awkward part, and i can confirm that you can disconnect the climatronic with no ill effects.

The pivot rod did foul on a bolt head (which i removed) and then on the metal lip and carpet behind it.

I've got to give that metal clip that holds the gear knob on the shaft another tweak, as the gear knob still rotates. Theres no key-way like on the original stick.

I just screwed my gearknob down to the shaft?

I didn't have to use the clip

Dont bother with that stupid clip, I couldnt do mine back up tight enuf, the knob kept spinning around and moving. Get hold of one of those clips you use on hosing and put that on. think its called a jubliee clip, you screw it up and it gets tighter. Works much better.

yep, jubilee clip, that's the monkey! good tip neilw.

Another tip....

Make sure you bend the clip that holds on the rod which goes to the gear box so that it is impossible for it to fall off. Mine did and i got stuck in 5th, managed to get home ok, and sorted it.

So what is it like is it better or just a wee bit. Is it worth the purchase.

I've just had mine fitted and it does make a difference and worth getting, it makes the gearchange more precise, its a little stiffer so it a nicer study feel to it and the throw has been reduced considerably! So much so that I sometimes wonder if I'm in gear and not actually in neutral (well not to that extent but you wonder if you have engaged gears properly!). Gives it a real sporty feel...

Thanks for JBS for fitting and supplying the shifter, class job fitting, no hassle, dropped it off and left it to them.
