Bobby1873 wrote:Cheers for the quick replies. I noticed it today for the first time but I'm sure it wasn't like that when I got the car. Its not a big deal but its just one of those little niggly things I suppose. I'll have a look at it tomorrow.
Regarding seeing yellow number plate in rear view camera all of a sudden, Bobby1873, did you get any solution? Just noticed this is happening to my new GTI. Was fine yesterday and today I see the number plate, which didn't happen before. Anyone with any ideas why? I have had a look at the camera and it seems solid, no movement. Its annoying.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but, these Polo GTIs being listed as second hand but only having typical delivery mileages on the Motorpoint site just don't seem to be what someone said they were, ie from the "European market". From personal experience once in 1999 and then in 2002, VW just do like anyone walking into a dealer in another sales territory and ordering a car. Every time that an attempt is made to place an order from outwith "that" sales territory, an approach to "that" territory's official importer is required and the dealer placing that order will either get the go-ahead and if so will get one unit removed from their next sales period quota to try to make them see sense - or they might just get that request turned down. Next, VW will not entertain any factory orders that do not conform with the norm, and that means if you tried to spec up a model with some "never supplied into GB market" options the order will get rejected - similarly specing up a model that is below the spec for normal GB market sales just will not get through either. That leaves the only place that these cars could have been speced for is Southern Ireland - which does tend to have a lower spec requirement across the range - it is all up to what the official importers have agreed with VW. Curious that what I'd expect to be an in demand model is getting scooped up cheaply by Motorpoint, I would have hoped that they would have found good homes in Southern Ireland. The real proof of the pudding will be to decode the PR codes, which any GB based main dealer will do when they turn up there - and catty comments will get written on the service paperwork - I know this!! They even ended up getting commented on when I went in for MOTs years later "labels missing etc" - and any insurance company might just get grumpy if/when you need to claim and they find this out - I was up front though to avoid that happening.

I picked my Polo 1.8GTI up last week. Convenience pack, heated seats, & winter pack.
Overall I'm really impressed with the performance just noticed a few things. Brakes creak on the rear when on hill assist and the car steams up as soon as the door is opened in the morning.
Not bothered about MPG at the minute but I have seen nearly 40 on a run!

Hey guys, got my ship name the other day, looked it up today and it looks like its in the english channel, probably arrive at port tomorrow I reckon.
Anyone know the rough time from entering the UK to pick up. I was hoping a week, I only live about an hour and half from dover, but im not sure where it will dock. I also know the person who sorted out the sale of the car, So hopefully he'll speed up the process a bit.

Are you sure that your car is on a "local" car transporter ship, or just on the initial huge transporter ship and heading for Emden? All the VAG UK landing ports are on the East coast, ie facing Europe (Emden which seems to be the main marshalling/clearing for Northern Europe etc).
Tip, using the same maritime tracker, check what that ship's last port was, if it is local, it should be Emden.

From arriving in the UK, its should take about 3-4 days to reach the dealer and then 1 day to do the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) and then your car [emoji41]
The cars come into Sheerness in the south, Grimsby in the Midlands and Tyne in the north so my bet is that tours will come into Sheerness.
Post some pics when you get it, the wait is worth it!

I've got the same squeaking from the brakes at low speeds as others have reported. Is this definitely nothing to worry about and will go away once worn in (I've only done 150 miles), or should I take it in to the dealer?
Other than that, absolutely loving the car, the infotainment system is great although one negative is it doesnt work with gloves, even "touch screen gloves".

Do u think the quality of the sound is good, I'm a bit disappointed in the sound compared to my fiestas system. Powerful but lacks a bit of clarity
