I still get it occasionally after 3000 miles! Took it to VW and surprise surprise, it didn't happen!palermojd wrote:This squeaking on the brakes is really starting to annoy me now!
Done about 600 miles, most of which has been on country roads to and from work every day (so plenty of use of the brakes) but still getting the squeak at low speeds! Has anyone who has had this issue gone back to VW? If so what was their action?

Re: New GTI
Have had mine for just over a month and have done 2.5k miles already.
Definitely a big improvement over the last one, extra torque does cause an issue with wheel spin in first and second thigh which can be annoying but overall very pleased with it.
No issues with it (touch wood) other than the dealers messing up the parking sensors twice, meaning I'm now waiting on a new bumper..
Got the carbon mirror caps a few days after I picked it up and think they're a nice touch.
Took it out on a hoon 4 days after picking it up and it performed admirably and I had no issues keeping up with a 911 carrera or an E39 M5 cross country so can't complain really!!

Interested to know, where did you purchase the mirror caps from? Only realised they were an option after mine had been built, Typical! -.- they look class!
Re: New GTI
I bought them from VW themselves, you can get them on EBay but it was actually cheaper via the dealer.. They were supposed to charge something like £45 labour to fit but they just did them for free luckily!

Re: New GTI
Took mine out for a bit of a blast last night and I love it. Traded in a 12 year old 1.4 Golf and the difference is staggering.
The dealer told me they'd put paint protection on by mistake which is a bonus. I've realised driving to work this morning that it also has heated seats which I didn't pay for. Hopefully it has the heated washer jets as well as they're part of the same pack. Not sure how I'd be able to tell though until it gets colder.
I did get the Alcantara seats so maybe these only come in heated form but it didn't say anything about it when ordering.

Re: New GTI
Anyone managed to find the correct badges for the polo facelift, I'm looking for gloss black one's, but they only seem to be available on ebay from australia
.
Also ordered the red GTI badges as they're only £10
.
With regards to the beiber song
ha ha I had a spotify playlist on I swear it was on there
haha.
Going to get the wing mirrors sprayed in a couple of weeks once I receive all the badges, they want £30 per mirror, so hopefully they will replace the badges for me aswell

Spoke to my dealer when I put my order in and the guy knew his stuff, told me that when you order alcantara seats it also comes with heated seats as standard.Pavel wrote:Took mine out for a bit of a blast last night and I love it. Traded in a 12 year old 1.4 Golf and the difference is staggering.

Saves getting the winter pack which is heated seats, heated washers and low fluid warning light. But if you didn't go for winter pack, then chances are you don't have heated washers, your heated seats just came as standard with your alcantara option.!
Personally I went for alcantara then wanted to go for winter pack for heated seats but after he explained it you're essentially paying £400 for heated washers and a low washer fluid light...

Heated seats are lovely. I never need to heat the car with the climate control .

That's a lovely photo mate! Have you edited that at all or is it straight off the camera?Deejbb wrote:![]()
Also, another quick question if anyone knows... The auto start/stop if you put it into neutral, sometimes it doesn't stop the engine and I get the A symbol on the dash with a cross through it - is there any reason it doesn't do it some times? I've also noticed when parked up with the engine on and put it into neutral, it will go into auto stop OK, but then after 5 mins or so it'll just start back up without me doing a thing. Bit strange.
Re: New GTI
Cheers Shaun.
When the dealer was showing me the functions I did think it was strange when he said something about the heated seats. Just assumed he didn't realise I'd ordered them. Driving to work this morning and suddenly thought why is the button even there if the seats aren't heated haha.
Glad I didn't order the winter pack now. Like you say not worth the price if you've already gone for the Alcantara seats.

Re: New GTI
I'd be surprised if the Alcantara does not include the rest of the winter pack - just does not seem logical otherwise, or VW are being tight - maybe check under the bonnet for evidence of wiring heading out towards the spray jets - I've forgotten if VW has the jets on the bonnet or the scuttle panel as I have both Audi, VW and Seat cars! (Audi and Seat do it one way, VW and Skoda do it the other way.)
Stop/Start behaviour, wife's Polo has manual trans, so what I've found is, if you stop with clutch up in neutral and all the conditions for "Auto Stop" have been satisfied (engine hot + battery charge level high + cooling not demanded), the engine will stop, but if you accidentally press the clutch pedal then lift it still in neutral, the engine will stay running - I'd guess to bring the battery charge level back up. I've only found that the "auto start" does not work if you have opened the driver's door, probably a safety feature.

looks like both apr and revo are currently developing maps for the new gti.

Re: New GTI
Are you not happy with the linear torque delivery? I like it myself but I haven't maxed out so I assume it gives up when you hit 6000 rpm?

Re: New GTI
it's too flat for my liking, so there is no telling when you are getting near the limit, when you would normally have it tailing off
i've smashed in to the limiter a few times because of it

Re: New GTI
Tracker for my order has moved to stage 3; build week confirmed. Tracker shows build week commencing 7/12/15 but the e-mail I've received shows 14/12/15. Whichever is correct, looks like an end of Jan/beginning of Feb delivery, or should I wait until March for a 16 plate? Decisions..............
