Re: Philip's WIP thread - coilies on
The front splitter is just cosmetic mate, the front strut brace improves the handling

yeah the splitter is to just make it look good.
the TT wheels are really heavy, if you take em off for some light weight alloys it's be like a remap again.
the merc rims i now have are mega heavy too, but been that wide you'd expect it lol
cheers guys

What width are the amg wheels?

What wheels did you fit? I know my comps are quite light, not that you would notice any performance loss in mine lolmwbpsx wrote:did u notice a drop in performance after fitting the 17s, mine seem to have cancelled out the remap i had done ?? or maybe im just used to it![]()

Re: Philip's WIP thread - possible big updates :P
well as most of you know i'm selling up just after christmas so have stopped spending money on the polo.
but due to some woman deciding to cut me up at a roundabout forcing me to either crash into her or go over the roundabout.
i chose the roundabout and i bounced up the kerb, over the grass and back down - thanks
i have bought some new alloys and the possibility of getting something that will change the look of the car COMPLETLY.
this will NOT be shown until fitted
spec of the alloys:
16" 7j fronts and 8j back.
i intend on getting the stance spot on this time so going to do something i think will work. (que the hate)
185/45/16 on the 7j fronts. giving slight stretch but nothing ott.
205/55/16 on the 8j rear. again giving slight stretch with bigger profile.
.'. lifting the rear of the car up more and in my head seems to work as i can go lower without rake.
serious opinions needed on this, i have 205/55/16 tires hence the idea lol

I'd ditch the 205/55s man, definitely. Get 195/50s for the rears, my mates got them for his mark2 golf and they're nice, plus they'll keep roughly with your bigger rolling radius.

I wouldn't say that's the way to do it though! They won't look right. Just wind up the coilies

there at tthe top, any lower and it'l be shocking.
i'm going to give them a try with 205/55. if i can find and part worn for cheap in 195/50 or 55 i'll give them a go.
just i dont want to be spending a fortune on them.

Your rears are at the top of the coils? I thought the 9N had problems with them not getting low enough? not struggling to get them higher. You sure they're set up right?

Re: Philip's WIP thread - possible big updates :P
the backs will go low. yeah there set up right lol
just the fronts wont go low enough so theres no reverse rake.
as you can see in this pic. fronts are 15mm from bottom and rears are at tthe top.

any more and i'll be sat like all the saxo's around my end

Hhhmmm.. That's weird. I've just never heard of anyone else with their 9N/9N3 struggling over getting the front lower than the rear. I thought it was a fact that the fronts are fine, but the rears never get low enough without taking adjustors out etc?
Do your fronts have helper springs?
Regardless, I wouldn't try solving the problem by adding fat tyres to the rear!

Re: Philip's WIP thread - possible big updates :P
adjusters are out at the front.
Re: Philip's WIP thread - possible big updates :P
Mines opposite, the front go down alot, but backs don't. Had to take rear adjusters out. The fronts have been wound down more aswel, but the front drivers side is catching like mad but only when i turn left, turning right is fine, not atching at all. It was catching before it went down more but it sounds worse now. But i dont want to raise it cos i like the height as it is now.
