i use it as it dosen't do any harm, you could gain a slight increase in power but the main reason on this car is that it is direct injected and if you have a quick look on the net with carbon build up you'll that anything that helps clean the intake valves can only help
Esso super unleaded is 97RON and seems fine and good for mileage :)

Not too bothered either way to be honest

Can you tell me exactly what it does?

Did you get winter pack purely for heated seats? If so i would go back and speak to dealers as I went for alcantara seats myself and my guy confirmed with me that alcantara seats come heated as standard so no need for me to spend £400 on the winter pack. All you're essentially paying £400 for is the washer jets and a low washer fluid warning.

You get the low washer fluid warning and headlight washers as standard with LED headlights, so if you specify alcantara upholstery, you're only getting heated washer jets in the winter pack for your £400 . As ShaunP has suggested, I'd definitely delete the winter pack option as it's really poor value for money on a GTI with alcantara upholstery. You can buy lots of cleaning gear for £400.

I've a manual (With Arm rest) and find that it doesn't get in the way when its pushed down as far as it can go, i find it quite good for 'relaxed' driving as when the arm rest is down fully, its at an angle towards the gear stick.

Personal preference, others may have different opinions.

I'd echo the above about the arm rest. Surprisingly enough it's good for resting your arm on. Doesn't get in the way of the gears or handbrake.

Interesting about the App-Connect being free, I too paid the extra £100 for it. Still shows as £100 extra on the online car builder though. Willoughbyyy have you spoken to the dealer about a refund yet? You'll have to let us know how it goes.

To answer your question about what it does: you can connect your smart phone (Android or iPhone) to the car and run Google's Android Auto or Apple's CarPlay which takes over the interface on the media system and runs the maps/media from your phone

My wife has a Polo SEL, so it gets the arm rest, I know/knew that she would not like it, it was always folded upright on my previous car (B5 Passat 4Motion) when she ever drove it - though I tended to always have it down horizontal. On the Polo, I find that it is a nuisance and does get in the way a bit - I can't understand why VW did not steal an idea from Audi and make it a bit more complex and make it so that it can extend forward or retract back to suit the user, the other thing that annoys me about it is that when folding it down from vertical, unless the handbrake is fully off, the ratcheting action does not engage - that feature is donkey's year old, but does not seem to have been implemented into this application very well. Even when it is vertical, there is a sort of a short arm rest available where the underside cranks down to the hinge. I'd love to say that for me it is brilliant, but so far not so - I'd always meant to fit one into wife's previous Polo (even although I knew that she would never use it!).
