Due to an OEM retrofit, there was no problem with K418 unit + the relay.

I currently have coded our Golf MK7.5 with OEM folding mirrors as if I had installed the K418 unit in the Golf , they fold and unfold when locking and unlocking with the remote control. It is also possible to code them as in my 6R (with the ignition key).

Thank you ciclo, I'm actually working on the wirings following your instructions.

Image

As you see my K418 package has brown and orange wires with their own fuses (7.5 A each) for extra protection (???).

Image

Did you leave 15A fuse into It's original fusebox or did you move to the car's fusebox?

I think will be lovely also to move relay into car's relays holder.. but first try to make It works.

As far as I can see looks like K418 unit is no longer available in this universe.. I cross my fingers everything will work fine!

I placed the 15A fuse in the original fuse box.

I bought several K418 units for other projects that I didn't do later. I think I still have a new one somewhere of my dust universe in the garage (in case you need it).

Thanks so much ciclo I feel much more safe knowing I can replace my k418 unit if needed considering I purchased It a lot of time ago and can't comply anymore with seller for any problems.

I'm very happy because I recently purchased a pair of 6c tail light for a very cheap price (25 euro each). I could not find a smoked version with similar price so I decided to buy not smoked one because it's a big improve anyways.

Once opened I saw position light bulb is much bigger so I compared position light bulbs between 6r and 6c and I found they are 5w vs 16w. Now I understand why 6c tail light looks brighter. :o

As far as you remember guys the other bulbs are the same in 6r and 6c? Thanks

No the parking light in the 6r is a w5w (t10 mount) while the 6c carries a w16w iirc (t20 mount)

Thank you iichel so just one bulb is different

Now a completely unrelated question; do you know mates If I can code my airbag unit via adaptation instead of buying a new one to retrofits airbag switch?

Thanks in advance :!: 8)

It's something that I should have done, but finally I didn't check it, I installed the new airbag unit and forgot about the original one.

The pins for the ON/OFF passenger airbag switch, and passenger airbag warning light were present in my original airbag unit, but at the time I did this retrofitting there was no info on the VCDS adaptation channels for these units.

The new airbag units are expensive, so you will have to check if your original airbag unit can support the switch and light once you make the wiring installation and change the values in the adaptation channels.

I will be very grateful if you publish the results with a report. TIA.

When I'll disassembly the car to install the climatronic I'll check my airbag unit and will post more details. I'd like to install the switch but only if I do not have to buy a new unit! Of course I will let you know about it mate even because I will need your help for the adaptation.

Just to make this interesting. I did try installing the switch and manage to see the button light up when switching the switch. There re pins in my airbag controller too. But i didn’t able to change the coding/adaptation with vcds last time. And then, i went to Service Centre to seek help even with online programming. But still its not able to code. Somehow the airbag really only accept any change when its new. So i have to take out all the wiring again.

Well, maybe there’s new development going on with VCDS now. maybe its possible. I would like to know as well!

Now I am even more curious to know if my original airbag unit could accept the changes in the adaptation channels (with ODIS or another tool).

If I were able to do it I would sell it for a million smiles.

Now I am focused on several retrofits for my wife's Golf (I am sure you will like them), discovering very interesting things ...

For the 6R I am looking forward to installing the CC Emulator for the MFSW CC, but it will still take some more time. I will install a new BCM Max (0.1 sec to do it) and I will have to find time for my original Airbag unit (you know, the central tunnel, etc  ).

Hi guys and happy new 2020 :!:

Image

Actually the new year did not start very well for me :? since few hours ago both my lowbeams, DLRs and half of internal lights do not work anymore!
That happened once I started the car and turned on lights as always.. instantly bulb warning on IC and lights off! I had to turn on fog lights and cornering lights to go home!

Autoscan revealed an open circuit error.
Can you guys please suggest me what to check a part from the fuses? Thanks
