Re: New GTI
By the way can anyone recommend how to get rid of wax on the black trim? I have the white marks in places which I'd like to get rid of? I've heard that WD40 might work?

Re: New GTI
I guess whoever made the plates up misread a letter? I didn't spot it for a day, so I'm not too bothered they didn't either.skipster wrote:Nice gesture for the inconvenience, but how did they get the number plate wrong ?nats148 wrote:Scott Bounce wrote:Pick her up tomorrow night at 5Out to give the ST one final blast tonight.
Ooh excitingI'm sure you'll love it
Had the day off today so I've had a blast out in mine, had to go back to VW as the number plate was slightly wrong - topped up my fuel and a bottle of champers for "inconveniencing" me.

Just back in from a spirited drive in the ST, still don't know if I've made the right choice! Haven't even seen the new GTI never mind test drove one. Again all the reviews say get the ST get the ST, hmm!

Re: New GTI
I'm trading in my ST for the GTI. For the way I drive a car the majority of the time I think the Polo is more me. I really don't think there is anything in it performance wise. Mine is a Mountune one too.Scott Bounce wrote:Just back in from a spirited drive in the ST, still don't know if I've made the right choice! Haven't even seen the new GTI never mind test drove one. Re: New GTI
Well this is what they all say but having test drove the ST, I did order the Polo without a test drive. I'm sure the ride was harder in the ST but I only had the car for an afternoon. The Polo is a better place to be inside but I miss the quick clear screen I had in a previous Fiesta. Your verdict will be very interesting!Scott Bounce wrote:Just back in from a spirited drive in the ST, still don't know if I've made the right choice! Re: New GTI
The suspension is definitely stiffer than Ron Jeremy, but when you're throwing it in to corners it just sticks. Heated windscreen is a great idea, shame most cars don't come with it. Having serious doubts at the moment, but I'm sure I'll come around once I finally sit in the Polo.Norfolk Boy wrote:Well this is what they all say but having test drove the ST, I did order the Polo without a test drive. Re: New GTI
First drive to work this morning - glad I didn't opt for the sports chassis thing
Re: New GTI
Hi all, new to the forum. Had my polo 1.8t 6r for the past two months now and I love it. The ride is hard as mentioned and for my like the car sits too high as all polos do. I have opted for the sports package and I really would recommend it you can feel such a difference in the throttle response although it makes the ride even more rough it really does give you that sporty feel.
Already looking to get some St coilovers after the new year to get rid of that arch gap and then it will be on to a stage one apr remap for 250 bhp and around 300 ft pound of torque

Re: New GTI
My car was delivered yesterday. After driving around town for some hours I am very pleased with everything about it. I am surprised that the suspension is so hard, I really wasn't expecting that.

Re: New GTI
Had mine a week now and have covered 450 miles in it, I think the suspension is lovely for a sports car. yes does it does firm up in sports button mode but still isn't uncomfortable, in fact I spend most of my time in sport mode just for the noise it makes
dealer told me that if you didn't opt for the sports mode then you get the suspension firmess of the sports drive constantly rather than being able to select it. Also this car is so much more comfortable to drive in comparison to my fiesta !!

Re: New GTI
Assume it was a ST? Also explains things as I have no sport button and agree the ride is firm but bearable!
Re: New GTI
Yes I'm pleased that I opted for the sports button. I had the previous Polo GTI and the ride was firm constantly. When I got this model and with the sport button off it was so much more comfortable. So now I have the best of both worlds. Firmer or softer ride. [emoji6]

Re: New GTI
Glad you agree my dealer said he's had one with and one without sports button as a demo and said to me (after taking the test drive with the sports button fitted) that I would be bitterly disappointed, my brother ignored him and he got one without and I got one with sports button and my brother is absolutely gutted with his car. Took his for a spin and I felt really bad for him as for the sake of few humdred pounds his car just isn't anywhere near as good as mine or sound as good as mine.
Re: New GTI
Once again I would say for the sake of £275 I think it was the sports button is a no brainer I actually got it put in free amongst other things so they could get the sale (cheeky) in response to
Putting springs on with the sports pack will make the ride even harder and I have actually spoke to a guy who took his back out after a month of them being in because he said it was too uncomfortable, aside from that I doubt it will affect anything else unless you go to change the dampers as well, as they will be electornically connected to the car, changing the ride as you select the sports button
