you cant beat a set of Ronal LS rims they look awesome!
I'm hoping it turns out well with the cams, its pretty exciting because it hasnt really been done too often so its interesting to see what kind of figures can be achieved.

Yeah I have heard the lower braces can be a nightmare for clearance, I think I wont bother with the lower brace. i'll just get my upper strut brace fitted and buy a rear brace too for some extra stiffness haha
H&R do the front ARB's but they aint cheap, your looking at like £217 from Venom Motorsport and the Rear ARB from Whiteline are around £250, apparently they do transform the car though.
Yeah mate they will map it straight after fitting the cams, they use Custom Code software which is meant to be awesome. It better be for £287 lol
That lad with the 6N GTI got 151bhp at AMD I think so 150+ is achievable without cams, no idea how much bhp the cams will offer but its normally 15-20bhp on a N/A engine.
I'm getting my exhaust done at Demon Tweeks in wrexham mate, looking at £290 for the custom system and then another £150ish for the Sports Cat. I want a similar system to yours so I can drop the car another 25-30mm and then stick on some spacers

Massive problems with my Gearbox mate, 1st Gear transmissions have totally messed me about in the last couple of weeks.
I ordered a Recon box to be exchanged with my original one but when the guys at my local garage fitted the recon box it started leaking oil.
Turns out there had been a repair made to the Crankcase which had been done to a very poor standard.
Looks as if the Recon box has come from a car involved in an accident, the crankcase has been cracked and somebody has tried to repair it unsuccessfully.
1st Gear had spray painted the gearbox black so no damage was visible, it’s only when the guys at the garage fitted the box and filled it with oil when the problems started. They used non heat resistant paint so when the car started to warm up all the paint peeled off revealing the repair patch and the oil leak.
It cost me £180 in labour charges to get the box fitted (inc clutch fitment) but as the box was no good I’m going to be hit with more labour charges to get it taken out and then to of course re-fit the replacement. Absolute nightmare and I have been without the car now for nearly 4 weeks.
I should get the car back on Monday/Tuesday next week now but I might have to take legal action with 1st Gear Transmissions to try and claim back some of the labour charges

Sucks man. I'd kick off to hell about it dude. Trading standards would be the first place i'd call if they don't play ball. Really sorry to hear about it dude, hope it all resolves itself soon will little hassle.

As its been going on so long now i'm just desperate to get the car back and once its back in my hands I can then persue with trading standards or Citizens Advice about getting my money back. If I had got the box fitted at 1st gear transmissions instead of my local garage then I probably wouldnt of had any issues but they're based in Kent and i'm in North Wales so its a hell of journey (the box didnt sound as if it would make it that far either)
I lost 2 weeks waiting for GSF to deliver my Sach Clutch but they ended up crediting me because it never showed up.
Its frustrating because its not in my hands and I know companies these days will try everything in their power to avoid paying out despite them clearly being in the wrong.
Ahwell as long as the replacement box works atleast I will finally have the car back

Sorry to hear this dude. Sounds like a bloody nightmare! Hope it's all sorted soon and your lucky in getting a well built strong recon box to handle all of that power, once your cams are fitted

Thats not cool Ben,hope it all gets sorted soon and you end up getting some doh back in your pocket dude.
I'll be sure to spread the word around my area about them, although im sure they used to have a good rep. They're about an hour or so away from me but will make sure people this end of the county are aware of it.

I just want to get is back ASAP, its weird not driving for that amount of time you get the same feeling as passing your driving test.
Just itching to get back in the car now and get back to normality

They have got a pretty good reputation which is why I used them in the first place but unfortunately for me I haven’t been a satisfied customer.
If they hold their hands up and just say "yeah we supplied a duff gearbox and will compensate you on labour" that will be fine and I would respect them.
I have got a feeling that won’t happen and I imagine it could take a while before I see any of my money back.

I had my box done by 1st Gear in Kent.
Drove all the way from Birmingham to kent on a shafted box.
They did a good job on replacing the box but mine started to leak oil from the 5th gear housing almost straight away (within 24 hours)
I rang them and told them and they said to take it back but i couldnt because i was on holiday about 200 miles away (in the polo).
I nursed it until i got back home and got a local garage to seal up the 5th gear housing and put new bolts in it and i think its ok now but do try and check as much as i can.
1st Gear did say to me when i was waiting for the box to be fitted that they would NOT offer any warranty as the car was "modified" and the same applies to any modified car having a box from them.

Yeah they wont offer any warranty on modified cars but if they supplied you a leaking gearbox then they should have replaced it.
Which they offered to do but obviously as you were away that wasnt possible.
Mine was leaking but it was clearly a damaged gearbox
